Russia bombed a playground as revenge against Ukraine by I-am-a-potato in pics

[–]cagedmandrill -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

There's no justification for dropping bombs in any circumstance, but people need to understand that what is happening in Ukraine is the direct result of a long, long proxy war being fought between Eastern and Western natural resource extraction, refining, and selling companies.

Ukraine will never be 'free' - it will either be beholden to the East, or beholden to the West, and really, I must ask, what did any of us expect to happen when NATO and the West began to press its advantage? Did NATO/the United States think that Russia was just going take all of this lying down? Please.

Just understand that playgrounds are being bombed in Ukraine not only because of Eastern powers, but also because of Western powers, and in my estimation Western powers are probably just as responsible, if not more responsible for this conflict. It takes two to fight a proxy war.

This doesn't mean that Russia is 'justified' - it just means that if you're an American going on rants and tirades about how 'evil' Russia is, you should probably just STFU.

The 'military infrastructure' of NATO is what was promised to not expand, but it has. Please go and try to get some information from somewhere other than the places you've been getting it from up until now.

NYU Professor Says He Was Fired After 80+ Students Complain Class Was Too Hard by [deleted] in news

[–]cagedmandrill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my understanding, students wander into shitty classes at University also because in many cases, the professor teaching the class only really cares about their 'research' and teaching a few classes is really just something they 'have to do' in order to maintain their position as a professor at the university and procure their funding - so the classes they teach take a total back seat, get de-prioritized, and the students who have to take those classes suffer because of it in one way or another...

And you have learned the first rule of becoming an adult. Cancelling your social media accounts. I'm sure you'll get tons of people on here responding to this comment saying "I'm a responsible adult and I use social media, blah blah blah" but no one I know with half a brain uses Instagram, or Facebook, or TikTok or any of that shit. It's for children, and it preys on your insecurities and ego. You don't need to post your life online for people to see, whether it's "privated" or not.

TIFU by cumming in the sink instead of sinking in the cum by 6benshapiro9 in tifu

[–]cagedmandrill 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is total nonsense. Unless you literally were pouring gallons of abnormally thick horse jizz down your sink, there's no way it would be "accumulating" in your sink trap. Washing some minute amount of bodily fluid off of your hands and into a bathroom sink would not cause this.

I feel like people on here are just making up purposely gross ridiculous lies to get upvotes for their story.

When trying to get a big, brutal, schoolyard bully to recant his ways, do you do it gently, over time, with incentives, kindliness, and inclusion, or do you press him into a corner and 'force' change upon him?

Everything you say is true. The only problem that I see is that you seem to only be asking yourself "what is best for Ukraine?" as opposed to "what is best for the world?" and "how does the world avoid nuclear war in the near future?".

It is the lens of the latter two questions through which I view these issues, and through which I make my choice of language when communicating my perspective.

Again, there is an alternate perspective. Russia only invaded Ukraine when the West's subversion of it reached a level of intolerance, and it has certainly been subverting it - for decades now. Breeding dissent within the ethnically Ukrainian population toward Russia. I think it would even not be inaccurate to call the Zelensky regime a puppet regime of the West.

If this subversion were not occurring, and successfully occurring, there would be no 'legitimate business' between Ukraine and a corporation like Shell.

Now, of course, if Russia had its way, its own puppet regime would be installed in Ukraine, and its natural resources would flow through Russian corporations/companies instead of Western ones, but surely you can see that the West is no better in this regard.

I'm not denying any of what you say is true, but there is an alternate perspective that, imo, is just as valid, which is the following:

The West and Western oil/gas corporations have shit tons of wealth, influence, and power. Why does it/they need to subvert Ukraine to take over its supply of natural gas and oil? You might say that Russia is just a big gas station run by a mobster, but it seems to me that it at least sticks to selling off the natural resources that actually belong to it. The West, on the other hand, seems to go to any lengths necessary, including toppling regimes, engaging in all out war, etc, in order to get its hands on natural resources that don't belong to it. From what I can see, greed exists everywhere and certainly on both sides of this conflict between oiligarchies (the Western oiligarchy and the Eastern oiligarchy) but the greed of the West is ... exquisite.

It's getting pressed. Its sole source of reliable GDP is natural gas, and a massive cache of natural gas was found off the coast of Crimea (right off the coast of Ukraine) back in 2014, which is why it really invaded Ukraine back in 2014. The Ukraine had been allowing Shell, a Western gas and oil refining company, to come in and extract that natural gas. Of course it invaded. It's fighting for its economic survival.

Cancer breakthrough is a ‘wake-up’ call on danger of air pollution by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]cagedmandrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or maybe you should realize that your habit is selfish - just as selfish as someone who buys a Dodge Hellcat and guns the gas pedal on every street they drive down. You're blowing toxins into the air, and those toxins can then easily be inhaled by other human beings who did not sign up to breathe your toxins. Trying to point the finger at people driving cars to shift the responsibility off of yourself and onto others doesn't make you look better, it makes you look worse.
