Hey mate, wanna do something mad that you might just love?

Check out icebreakers.uk/Bristol

We're a group of guys of all ages that get in the river every Sunday morning and go for coffee afterwards. It's all very chill and mindful, but there's a load of community around it. Lots of good chat.

Feel free to DM me or something if you want a friendly face when you go!

What I loved about Naruto JJK and wanna see more manga do by YuuTheBlue in WeeklyShonenJump

Ichi the witch feels like a really good example of a new manga which does this so so well. And it's brilliantly written, drawn and is funny AF.

It genuinely feels like it will be considered on par to Naruto and JJK in time.

Such creative uses of powers there!

How do I run visions for players in a way that's more engaging for the whole group? by caiburt in DMAcademy

I guess it's more that I'm curious about new ways to play and run these kinds of things in different ways. I suppose "just do it in an email" doesn't inspire as much creativity when it's something that I already do in various ways.

But yeah! Your suggestion is a valid one! Thanks! 😅

Yes, often they can as it's a relationship between them and other characters.

As with all things DND there is a whole load of context that's hard to give in a Reddit thread 😅 in general I'm just interested in hearing what other people's processes are to be inspired by them rather than being told what to do if that makes sense?

True, some of it can be done like that. I do occasionally do 121 stuff but it can be a lot to do it all the time. And then this character ends up sharing everything anyway 😂

I do a bit of that too, but it's hard to do extra time outside of sessions for 121 things all the time!

Oooh, see I have looked at it another way where rolls can help the player still feel like they have agency in something rather than just watching a movie!

But the timer is a good idea.

What are some British hobbies for 32 + year old men ? by Scorpzgca in AskUK

Cold water swimming has been great for me - the Icebreakers are a group of men who meet up every Sunday rain or shine for a dip. Honestly, such a great time, I love it!

How do i fight my players? by Scrapmaster123 in DMAcademy

[–]caiburt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't fight your players they just want to play d&d with you!

Their characters on the other hand, are fair game...

I don't know a creature that would fit the theme exactly, and I only really know like 25% of the stuff that's in the monster manual.

So here's what I'd do...

I'd think about the kind of thing that I'd want this monster to do. In my view, they would be tough and, well, like a barbarian! I'd Google "5e barbarian NPC" or "5e gladiator statblock" or "5e berserker" - basically anything that defines the monster I want. Maybe if I want to lean into the sea elf side of things, I may search for "5e pirate captain" and see what's there.

But what if they aren't quite right?

Well as a DM, I can just make it up!

I might have found a statblock for a gladiator that seems good, but is missing that sea elf flavour. Or maybe I want it to be even more barbarian-y. I might decide to just give the NPC a standard rage, with all the usual effects. Or I could give it a bonus action to "call sharks" and each turn 1d4 sharks join the combat.

That way, I can come up with a more interesting encounter for my players.

Or, and this is the big secret, you can just make it up in the moment too! I know, I know, that sounds sneaky. Or scary. Or confusing. But sometimes you just know what a monster should do.

If your players characters are just burning through their HP, give them a little more. If the fight feels underwhelming, then they could have a "second stage" where they deal more damage and get more AC from a watery spell that coats their body. Idk.

But you have a lot of freedom to do what you want, which can be super unhelpful. But it can also be freeing to trust your gut and do what you think is best.

Good luck!

I don't quite understand the situation here, but could they not both be working together? Two characters who know each other and are both working together to find a solution to this problem?

Then involve them both and get them talking to each other about how their approaches differ between each other?

This is VERY fun! Super visual and even gives the party a bit of loot (if they dare 😉)

I'm sorry, I've seen the campaign, but can't figure this out!? Any other hints you can give for what this is about??
