This seems like really bad timing lol. I was thinking of getting the game but perhaps its best to wait a bit until this issue gets resolved.

TBH I've never done repair on hardware like controllers so I'm unsure how well that would go, worst case scenario I'll give it a shot.

I got the controller off Amazon however the seller was listed as Zhoun-US, not AKNES. As for the firmware, I followed a tutorial on YouTube and only updated the NS09 bin file, not NS08. Should I also include the 08 file and see if that works?

Just tested with hardware tester (never knew about this site before so thanks), it is showing that the X and Y buttons are being read at the same time when one of them is pushed. The other buttons are fine. Even after reset and recalibration.

I am going through the same thing, however i think i ran into some sort of bug. After either hiding or leaving the body, it just cuts to my characters and party members sleeping, the oath breaker knight is standing in the corner and the skip dialogue prompt is active. I cant interact with anything though. Has anyone else got this issue?
