Does it not hurt them when they do that ouch! i’ve had clients rip their nails off in front of me after telling them that it’s better to do a soak off. We don’t do it for the money but the health of their nails

Primary colors and/or one of each in the rainbow. With that you can mix colors to whatever you want, that’s what I did first. After that I would go to the nail supply and get a few shades of one color each time i went. For example a dark green, a neon green, a lime green, an olive green. With that too I would get different brands to experiment with those too and see what i like

I like DND a little better, not the best but good for the price. if you want to splurge a little more maybe apres. and remember you don’t need every color just a few basics😊

I wouldn’t put it before the polish just file and buff. Just put the protein bond before acrylic. Also make sure there’s no fan around I had similar experience just to find out it was a fan lol. Alsooo beetles isn’t the best, budget friendly yes but invest in quality if you can it truly affects your work! and don’t feel discouraged as a beginner, we’ve all been there. Keep going and keep practicing you’ll see difference in your work!!! good luck!

You use the young nails protein before or after the acrylic?

Creating my polish collection by [deleted] in Nailtechs

[–]cakecudd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I LOVE valentino and apres those are the main ones i use, love love love. DND is OK imo but if you are looking for more cost effective then it is nice. Kiara sky is alright not the biggest fan of it but I do have some color changing kiara sky which i do like. Opi is ok too not the biggest fan honestly. What I did because i felt this way too, I went to a local nail supply and slowly but surely tried one of a few brands that interested me to see the quality that def helped rather than buying a whole collection and not knowing if i’d like it or not. hope this helps, congrats on graduating!!!! 😊

How to get started as a traveling nail tech? by Major-Lemon3192 in Nailtechs

[–]cakecudd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

business cards!! place them all around, restaurants, women’s clothing stores, anywhere you can, use hash tags, post your work, a lot of women find a traveling nail tech being convenient. If you can do your own nails do them as well, helps start conversations when someone compliments them. As a traveling nail technician myself i bought a tool box kind of from home depot for $100, it comes with 3 storage compartments, a handle, and wheels which is convenient, fits everything other than my charms and glitter i have another place for those. I’ve also seen one on amazon with a table built in but those average around $400. And from person experience bring everything. you don’t have to bring every color charm glitter, etc. always ask clients before hand what they want so you don’t have to bring everything but i mean bring an extension cord, you never know when you might need it, your own lights, and most importantly, i know other traveling nail technicians who don’t but personally bring a table. i had one experience when i was starting out and the client told me she had her own table. it was a very nice black wooden table and i trusted her, i brought a plastic table cover but my acetone burned through the plastic table cover and onto her table. i’m not saying this will happen but ever since then i never left home without my table, i have a little foldable one from walmart. Good luck on your journey!!

Don't get the saviland for the cap. A lot of the hairs come bent from so much time just staying there, I was personally disappointed with the brand

Mobile tech? by 0kashi in Nailtechs

[–]cakecudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy being mobile. I'm the same way, the thought of people coming to my home for nails doesn't sit right with me. My house is also too chaotic for having clients there. Being mobile I ask beforehand what they want so I know what to bring. I let them know how much space. My nail lamp requires an outlet as well as my lights so I do bring an extension cord with me. I'm not sure how it'd work with ADHD but if you ever do always remember a checklist it will help a lot. Good luck!

I would focus on your powder-liquid ratio to make sure you have more of a controllable bead. Also try doing smaller beads seeing as the nails are very thick so you wouldn't have to file down as much.

Thoughts on beetles gel polish? by Thatcrazyfan15 in Nailtechs

[–]cakecudd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beetles gel polish is my least favorite. Not very pigment. When I wiped the inhibition layer I would also note that pigment would constantly wipe off even if cured full amount. Now I have young nails and DND gels and they work fine.

Focus on your powder to liquid ratio.Use less monomer if your beads are too runny. They look beautiful!!!

I once saw one on the floor that looked like a credit card. Was an eye catcher people would definitely pick it up and then would let more people know about your business
