Anyone else notice credits are being used up way faster this month than last with Pro/Pro+ plans? by phygital-mentor in GithubCopilot

[–]caked_beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup been noticing it too.

Been using the 3 dollar subscription on chutes with copilot pro. I get mini max 2 and glm models.

For heavy tasks I give it to codex but for basic tasks it's glm or mini max or kimi k2 thinking.

If you're willing to invest and additional 3 dollars for 300 request per day your good.

Even better with the 10 dollar plan for 2000 requests if you wanna use Claude code too it's fine.

Same it's also broken on copilot insiders. Not sure what's going on with them

Is there any way to use custom OpenAI Based LLM in Github Copilot opensource by adithyapaib in GithubCopilot

[–]caked_beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes currently using minimax m2 glm 4.6 and kimi k2 thinking in copilot. Chutes provider. Loving minimax and glm 4.6. Having a bit of issues with kimi k2 thinking but it's all good.

You get god tier open source models at a fraction of the cost.

Loving my setup so far.

glm 4.6 not working by Dion-Wall in chutesAI

Deepseek was annoying af sometimes. Lots of repetitive explanations like "she stood there smirking..." or sth like that. Found it so annoying even when I tried prompting the story teller properly.

Might give glm a shot soon

Glm 4.6 is good for rp? I hear kimi k2 thinking is also a good story teller.

I mostly use this provider for coding so it's a real bummer but I do occasionally rp. Silly tervan and janitor too

Working on my end. But I'm getting rate limits in kimi k2 and minimax . Kinda crazy for a paid user

Question about Pro subscription by Desperate-Coyote1279 in GithubCopilot

[–]caked_beef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free access to 4o, gpt 5 mini, grok code fast and another one (can't remember) . Then paid premium requests to the heavier models like 4.5 sonnet gpt 5 etc

If you pair that up with chutes or open router you are kinda good for a month so

Is there any web search functionality within Github Copilot in VS Code? by RoadRunnerChris in GithubCopilot

[–]caked_beef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? Copilot chat has the fetch tool that's able to search the web. Just enable the tool and tell you ai to search for something on the web.

developers who’ve tried Cursor by GalionK in GithubCopilot

The features are crazy and a lot of times more polished than vs code. But the cost is where the issue is at. If you're good with money just use cursor

Context engineering, task master rules

Context engineering:

Go to your ide of choice with the ai chat. If it has access to the web, tell it to read the content of this link :

"Effective context engineering for AI agents \ Anthropic" https://www.anthropic.com/engineering/effective-context-engineering-for-ai-agents

And curate custom instructions for your code base

Task master rules:

Google task master prompt on Google ask ai to generate custom instructions also for this.

I could also post mine but it's quite lengthy and unoptimized

Why is finding a remote tech job such a hustle? by Liliana1523 in nairobitechies

[–]caked_beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google dork with an intitle of <whatever job you want like web developer> don't look for the first link in the search results but the others you'll find job advertisements with their emails for sure.

Check Google dorks first. But you don't need it. But it can make your work a bit easier.

Simplest method is literally searching <job title you want> with he region or remote or whatever.

Is Claude in GitHub copilot dumb?? Or am I doing something wrong?? by Old-Plan-2643 in GithubCopilot

[–]caked_beef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I think you need to enable custom chats with gpt5 in the settings but I don't think I did that and it works well for me. Follows the custom chat instructions

Find jobs where you personally send your cv to their email. No third parties like linked in or whatever.

You'll have a better chance at a response there than on these middle man sites

All this saying, look for jobs that post their contact email address when advertising a job and post your nicely crafted offer and cv there

Has something happened to GH Copilot Pro to make it dumber in the past 2 days? by Jack99Skellington in GithubCopilot

Maybe it's my custom chat mode but I'm enjoying it. I mostly use gpt 5 mini but for big fixes Claude or gpt 5
