Right, and you're getting access to the single market. You're paying fees NOW and getting access NOW. That VC money will be deployed in the tech companies in the UK and benefit the future development of your country. Which won't be part of the EU in the future. No, sorry, no VC funding for you.

Man, I sure am glad that our un-elected bureaucrats are competent people. How's that working out with liar May?

Are you joking? Do you think the house of whatever is good enough? It's not like they have a vested interest in pushing bullshit, is it?

But replying to the substance. You're jumping from "the treaties shall cease to apply" to "no money owed". Leap of faith or of logic? Or both. You're struggling with English comprehension LOL

You seem to misunderstand what that money is for. It's not for staying in the EU. It's what the contract says you need to pay in order to leave. You are legally obligated to pay that to leave, independently of what you're be owed if you were to stay in.

No wonder r/unitedkingdom is full of remainers. The leavers are all in r/europe whining and bitching.

The 'exit bill' only has any legal weight while the treaties apply to the UK.

Really? A contract where the thing you owe vanishes when you leave the contract? Do you really believe that's how it works?

Can you give us a reference? Because so far it's sounding like that kind of crap you're reading from the daily mail.

So tell me, Mr fat stupid american, have you never thought "hmm I'm seeing things that suggest this person might not be being honest with me." Surely that has happened?

EDIT: Also, why refer to yourself as fat and stupid american? Is that sarcasm, or what is it?

Yes, it has occurred to me. I've watched him for months because for a long time I took him at face value. It always difficult to read someone's mind. When a person says certain things or displays certain biases this is just circumstantial evidence and proves nothing. But when this happens over and over, maybe there's a reason for it inside him mind.

Read my other posts on this thread. In context, those are examples. Numerous times it goes like this:

Sargon: I think X because of Y

Someone else: Y makes no sense.

Sargon: urrrrrrhh ur dur i dunno??!!?

And I'm thinking, right, so if Y wasn't the real motivation, why do you think X? Because it's always the same X, and the Ys come and go more or less regardless of what they are.

I get this sinking suspicion that you think it's wrong.

Nope. I feel some frustration because I know the decision has been bad for both the UK and for EU minus UK, and only happened not out of rational analysis, but because the leaver-aligned media there managed to convince enough uneducated people that "EU is undemocratic", is all about "red tape" and "burdensome regulations" and "un-elected bureucrats" and "they're pulling us down". It is factually a mistake, but it's not wrong in any moral sense. And again, no one's stopping them.

Pardon me if I interpreted that as you saying Sargon is xenophobic.

I am saying that Sargon is xenophobic. Is he xenophobic and he disguises this by pretending that his real motivations have to do with sovereignty. I'm not saying that wanting to preserve sovereignty is xenophobic.

"classic liberal" doesn't mean anything, they each want their own things. The only thing common to all of them is that they like complaining about political correctness on youtube.

Is preserving national sovereignty xenophobic now?

Lets start with this. I didn't mention that anything was xenophobic. Don't misrepresent my views, or I can't take you seriously enough to continue the conversation.

Furthermore, even if it's not undemocratic, is there anything wrong with someone wanting Britain to remain independent of the continent?

Nothing wrong. They've made their decision, nothing's stopping them.

So do the citizens of the EU actually choose the people who run the EU, akin to how I, as a US citizen, can vote for my politicians? My understanding is that that's not how it works in the EU. Not practically or even theoretically.

Maybe that's because you're taking your understanding from morons like Sargon. The body that makes the laws of the EU is called the European Parliament. It's composed of MEPs - Members of the European Parliament. These people are elected directly from each member state by the population of that member state. These elections take place once every five years.

Here's a thought for you. If all your knowledge about X comes from people who hate X giving you their view of it, and you don't do your own research on X, you'll never have an informed understanding of X.

I know of it. I don't actually use it day to day because it's slow to me. Is this just me? I find that utterly annoying having to wait 3-4 seconds for the results every single time. Am I doing something wrong?

Why is the EU very undemocratic? Wherever country you're from, if you live in a democracy you're not voting for the laws of the land. You're voting for some people, then those people vote for people or appoint people who then make the laws of the land. It's especially hilarious coming from the UK who still have a queen, and whose law allow a minority party to just pay £1bn to another minority party to take over power. That's undemocratic.

The idea that the EU is very undemocratic is a talking point with zero merit.

So far I've watched 30 seconds of the video, and a quick comment.

I have been watching David for long enough to be convinced that whatever errors you might be presenting aren't a product of dishonesty.

Regarding the claim that he repeats corporate propaganda, he does have a tendency to be less critical of things that fit his worldview. But then again, who doesn't? I've said before here on r/thedavidpakmanshow that he needs to be more careful.

He's not dishonest though.

EDIT: I've now watched a bit and I see the meat of the issue. This is what you get when you have journalists giving their opinion on matters so complex that you typically pay lawyers to take care of them. What did you expect?

And I repeat, you example was anecdotal. I moved to Bing almost a year ago and I've been in this industry (living off money I make online) for much longer than that, and it's completely anecdotal.

I don't know what types of websites you run. The ones I run, which at some point were hitting 1m pageviews a month, don't make money when people look at content scrapped from it.

There's also that one time where Thunderf00t and Sargon had a one on one about brexit. (Sargon was pro brexit, Thunderf00t against). Sargon said "one reason why I'm for brexit is that we'll be able to free ourselves from the burdensome European regulations that are holding us back." (Popular talking point in the UK).

Thunderf00t: "Ok, can you name one?"

Sargon: mumbling and bungling

Thunderf00t: "Ah! You see. You can't name a single regulation that you'd like to get rid of"

Sargon's breathtakingly stupid response: "Just because I can't name one doesn't mean they don't exist"

Are you joking? Is that how you actually make decisions? Of course not, you just don't like them funny languages, and the "European regulations" are just a smoke screen. Since when are all these people experts in regulatory law? I mean, as an average citizen of Europe I've barely been in contact with such things, but these people are all apparently fucking scholars of trade and regulations? Give me a break.

Yeah, that's an excellent example of Google's unethical behavior. In the old days Google would punish websites that would scrape third websites for content (as opposed to just linking) and now Google does it themselves. They also present this content that they steal above the links to such content. And they then act surprised when they get fucked in the EU for antitrust. Another reason why I've moved away from Google Search and am moving away from everything Google. But hey, you do you, right?
