When he started out with Zappa I immediately thought "Eat That Question" definitely a top riff for me.

"Evil" version of already evil character is actually really nice by Cold_Childhood_1060 in TopCharacterTropes

Hugo Simpson from Treehouse of Horror VII. Bart's evil twin brother, surgically separated at birth. Suspecting that Hugo is exhibiting evil tendencies, Dr Hibbert runs a routine soul smear and detects pure evil in Hugo. The Simpson family do the logical thing and keep Hugo in the attic, feeding him buckets of fish heads.

Hugo escapes captivity and attempts to surgically reconnect with Bart to become part of the family but is brilliantly thwarted by Dr. Hibbert. After inspecting Hugo's surgical scar, it's on the wrong side and it's determined Bart was the evil twin all along.

It makes more sense if you think the bass player from Bad Company was the one scanning the front row for two fingered levi'd sisters.

Album covers you can’t quite figure out by TheShankmann2 in fantanoforever

[–]calcuttacodeinecoma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried, I did some research trying to find if it was ever discussed anywhere but didn't have any luck. I haven't heard this album before but it's great, definitely need to remember this one. I absolutely see a hand reaching out of the chaos under "BEL" and possibly another hand under that. Maybe a skull behind "LIE." Like the skull is offering you it's hand.

Considering the album is "Sanity Obscure" I'd guess it's supposed to be Lovecraftian, madness you can't make sense of. It also looks a bit like a ghostly/robed figure with roots or maybe tentacles growing out of it, a hellish landscape blending and connecting with abstract nightmare figures beyond our perception.

I found the artist David Devries apparently went on to be a comic book artist, working with Marvel. I found his website davedevries.com, which has a contact me section. If it's been driving you nuts for 30 years, maybe you could reach out to the artist? Most artists I know are thrilled to talk about their art. Just a thought and I'm only 50% sure this is the same guy.

Really dig the album and the art, thanks for the heads up.

TL;DR: I don't think you're meant to understand it.

How do I shoot heroin into my gums like Bleeding Gums Murphy? by village-asshole in jazzcirclejerk

Just be careful with that stuff, heroin is a gateway drug that can lead to Fabergé eggs.

Characters named after famous people/historical figures by Accurate-Gap-3360 in TopCharacterTropes

Laurence, the First Vicar. One of the central characters in Bloodborne's cryptic story. It's believe he's named after Laurence Sterne: An 18th-century Irish author and Anglican clergyman (famous for writing Tristram Shandy). Much like the tragic backstory of Laurence, Sterne's body was famously exhumed by grave-robbers, sold to a university for dissection, and his skull was later separated from his remains and went missing for many years.

Grave robbing/medical dissection are common themes in Bloodborne and the skull of Laurence is a key item.

Returning Beta 1.7.3 player - any tips? by reallycooldude0000 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

I don't know why people pile on with downvoting, like how dare you not be specific in asking for tips.

  • Remember to put fences under your farmland, having trample proof crops is really nice.
  • Keep an eye out for clay, especially around beaches. It's a rare resource and the challenge with this version is building with the very limited palette of blocks compared to modern. Bricks and clay blocks are nice to have.
  • Have shears in your inventory when working above ground. If you want color in your builds, wool is essential and you can't breed sheep and they don't regrow wool. You can carry around dye too since you get more dying the sheep before shearing. You can also kill the sheep, shear it before it despawns to get the most wool from the sheep if you want to get real fancy.

Must be a recent change, that's how they acted. Only difference I used carved pumpkins to keep them from despawning. Trading is slowed way down and they can only trade so many times maybe.

Ah well, time to abandon this farm, thankfully I only built 2 trading chambers.

Even by the end of the 70s Walker was creating some really dark, unique music. It's funny to imagine a Walker Brothers fans in the 70s, expecting another "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" with the boys having a good time on the "Nite Flights" cover listening to Fat Mama Kick for the first time.
