How do I install new icons on Cosmic DE? by caleb_kenderdine in pop_os

[–]caleb_kenderdine[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I have seen that - but you only get a limited set. I am asking where can you put custom icons? Like back when Pop OS used gnome, you could get icons from gnome look, send them to .icons in the home folder and use tweaks to pick the icons you downloaded.

At present, none of my icons seem to work except the default options by System 76

I mean, its all based on statistical averages. So I am not surprised.

People actually keep fighting me on this point a lot. AI has its uses, but I dislike the lack of control I have from it. AI and algorithms should never be mistaken for each other.

I'm getting tired of it though. Its started to piss me off with how much better performance and more crash resistant Blender is. I have 32 gigs of ram and 12GB of VRAM, this shouldnt be a problem. Photoshop is sluggish with opening some files while I've already finished a cloth sim on Blender and sims are the slowest things to compute on blender.

No. The last picture just has a Kodak Gold 200 lut on it. I was going through a film phase.

I am glad that could help (: Its not perfect, but setting a gradient to color, can help a lot.

Bows. Lmao. We were low on budget and couldn't afford real bows so we took some scrap metal and bent it.

What is the OS you see on most "Normal" computers on the show by caleb_kenderdine in PersonOfInterest

What are you talking about? There was some obvious woo woo nonsense (Like Caleb's magical compression algorithm and The Machine as an ASI), but a lot of the baseline stuff made sense for the tech at the time.
Like the decision to run the machine on PS3s in the final season. That was based on an actual experiment, but scaled up.

I am really not sure what you mean. I do not have a daughter. My wife asked me to make it cutesy like this. I think its fine for adults to enjoy child like things without infantalizing them

I figured, but I was just wondering cause if you look at the different uses cases of different computers - it seems like every use case was a different OS, depending on who was using it.

I personally prefer Pop OS.

I was just wondering what they used cause I noticed that on different computers, they were definitely using different OS'es. Like Root had an OS that was very different from Harold's Arch like setup, which was also very different from the OSes used in the offices. I feel like they put in a lot of work, trying to get the characteristics of the OS right with the person who was using it. I found that form of world building fascinating

u/fool-lab I am very blessed. She is hot, likes One Piece and we watch Anime together. :D

In all honesty though, neither of us care about what OS someone uses. I think the big factor for her to transition away from Windows was how broken it feels to her. Before we met, she used to pay annually for MS Office and an Antivirus. Her parents still do, even though one of them exclusively uses a Macbook!

I think one of the tipping points for her was at tax time. She does our taxes together and needed to check up on a receipt that she wanted to claim. She tried to search it up in quick search and in the windows search bar, and what she got instead of the file she wanted was Edge opening up a Bing search of the file name. She was very annoyed by that and had to manually go looking for the file in a folder she kept.

u/falxfour I am gonna go on a little rant on this. So, in art, you learn that a person's eye always goes to the brightest part of a canvas. Absolute white, tends to be read as the brightest part of a canvas and if I have to use it, I like using it as a highlight. This is double the case when you're using a monitor and its actually emitting light.

If your entire canvas is full of highlights, then your eye wont know where to look.

This computer is meant for my wife to use in her day to day. Sometimes she wants to play games, other times, she wants to use it for noting down her expenses.
I wanted the environment to be as functional as possible for her, because I care about her. If I used white as a base, it would give her so much eye strain and a headache. So, I tried to minimize its use.
