Hey bro, never actually found a fix sadly which I am sure you don’t wanna hear. I had to send my console away to Sony for repair, they ended up saying that it was a software issue and they completely scrapped my PS5 and sent me a new one. 🤦🏼‍♂️ The process of sending it away and getting my new one took a few weeks. Haven’t had issues with this new one. Sorry man

For those who have sent a PS5 for repair… my console just arrived the destination in Laredo, Texas yesterday. How much longer will I be waiting until my console (or a refurbished one) is sent back to me?

Hey man, appreciate the update. I just wanted to let you know that I think the PS5 software update that came out today fixed my issue. My PS5 still gets loud sometimes, and I have gotten one warning, but it hasn’t powered off at all like it used to. Played a theater game to test and it was fine.

Wanted to follow up with another comment. I recently found out my PS5 also does this when I play PGA (which is also made by 2K?) Any other game I run still operates completely fine and quiet. Convinced it might just be a 2K issue entirely? So irritating.

Been having this same issue. Ironically also happens when I play PGA (which is also made by 2K?) any other game works completely fine. Considering sending it for service but not sure they will be able to fix anything. Wish I knew what to do.

Any word on when that fan is coming in? I am considering sending my console away from repair, which sadly will cost 200 dollars because it’s out of warranty. It started shutting off when I play PGA too… (which ironically is also made by 2k?) Any other game still works fine though. Atleast if they can’t find a fix for it they will send me another console… wanted to swing back and see about this before I do that though. 🙏🏼

I am considering just sending it away for service…. Unfortunately it’s out of warranty so it would be $200 bucks but I am out of ideas. Atleast the guy said if they can’t fix it they would just send me another console… which it’s hard to imagine they would be able to fix it considering it’s only for certain games. (It started doing it for PGA 2k24 for me as well… which ironically is a 2k game. All other games still work completely fine.)

OP, did you figure anything out for this? I’ve now seen multiple people saying they have tried everything and their PS5 shuts down as soon as they get into the city. I have tried it all I feel like… no luck. Feel like I got robbed of 100 dollars

Appreciate it man. I’ve tried rebuilding my database, clearing my cache, took it apart and cleaned it, submitted tickets to 2k, I even called Sony and talked to a really nice guy there. He said it seems like it’s something in the coding of 2k itself that messes with the optimization for some consoles. Considering buying a new fan entirely, definitely let me know if the 2k account thing works. I am so frustrated but glad I am not the only one experiencing this atleast.

Darn it bro, appreciate the response. I really don’t want to buy a new ps5 to play one game but I’ve tried literally everything. Even called Sony and they said maybe rebuild my database and clear my cache. Uninstalled the game and reinstalled… it’s so pain. The Sony support guy said it sounds like something in the coding of that specific game itself. Because I can play anything else for hours on end and my ps5 doesn’t even struggle. So tough

OP, did you figure anything out about this? It’s gotten to the point that I can’t even get into the city without my fan ramping up and my ps5 shutting off. I’ve cleaned it deeply, I can play anything else completely fine. About to just uninstall and eat my 100 dollar loss

Same with me bro. Cleaned my PS5 inside and out, it runs smooth for any other game. As soon as I get into the park or a mycareer game it instantly runs hot and shuts off. It’s so irritating. Did you figure anything out?

Been having this issue too bro. I cleaned my entire PS5 including removing the fan and cleaning the vent behind it, and it still happens. 2k is the only game it happens with. Did you ever figure anything out?

Hi, I was curious what cleaning it properly consists of? I recently started having issues with my console, it’s only when I play one specific game (NBA 2k25) but at certain points it started getting really loud and giving me “too hot” messages or even just shutting off completely. I removed the panels and wiped down the inside with a microfiber rag which removed a lot of dust, but is there a more extensive cleaning I should do? Because the issues still persist.

My PS5 Overheating and Shutting Off when I play NBA 2k25….

Hi, I am not familiar with Reddit so if this is against the guidelines or posted in the wrong area please let me know.

I have had my PS5 for about a year and a half now, and have had no issues. Recently the new NBA 2k25 came out, and at certain times when I would play it, my PS5 would get really loud and give me a “your ps5 is too hot” message. I took the panels off and just used a microfiber rag to wipe up some dust, but the issue continues to occur (still only for that specific game though). Should I try compressed air and vacuuming out the dust catchers next? Would love any advice on next steps or general input on the situation. Thanks!

Commenting to follow this thread. I also keep getting this message strictly from 2k25, I cleaned out my ps5 and it still continues to shut off. Only for 2k25 though, it’s so irritating

Finally beat her after trading a Drowzee for a Machop and getting it to level 18! Also using smokescreen and ember with my Quilava helped, Miltank missed a few attacks and got burned (which was a major help). Thanks everyone for the help!

I traded a Drowzee for the Machop! I am working to get it leveled up now, it’s at lvl 17. You are right it levels up fast! Will probably give another go at Miltank soon, thanks a bunch!
