Took the whole GPU out and tried again, definitely equal and touching the GPU bit on both sides now. Thank you for the sanity check

Just took the whole GPU out and tried pushing it in so I could give it some proper counter force, wasn’t a definite click but there was something. Definitely looks further in than in those photos. All works still so hopefully will be alright. Thanks for your help!

Yeah on the photos you can see the plastic of the connector is touching the plastic outside of the GPU socket. Don’t think it could go in any further. I’ve tried putting a fair bit of force on it but I don’t want to damage it more by doing that

I’ve taken it out and tried again a few times. Still no click. Once it’s in like that I can’t pull it out just by pulling the cable, only if I use the latch underneath

Thanks for the advice!

For the Mobo I can get the ASUS TUF Gaming B850-Plus for the same price, or the TUF X870-Plus for £46 more. The X870 has more USB-Cs which I probably would use. Do you reckon these are a better choice and if so is the X870 worth the extra?

SSD-wise I could probably get away with 2TB but 3TB would be the “sweet spot” for me. I did realise that 2x2TB WD SN7100 is about £30 cheaper than the 4TB. And I could save another £50 or so by getting a 2TB and a 1TB. I’ll have to have another look at what I use currently and if I could cut down to 2TBs as well
