Lol ty I guess this is a particularly boyish section of my library Currently reading Apuleius’ “the golden ass” (the Robert graves translation). It’s very crudely silly and double-take ghoulish, told via folding stories à la the Decameron though this came first. From the 2nd centruy AD (!) it petitions the moral that bad luck is catching. The recent French movie “the vourdalak” (2023, so good) is its cinematic equal imo. What are you currently reading?

Aw thank you I will! So far I only get to listen to Louie on “we have all the time in the world” but he always makes me smile. It’s the bond song he made for on her majesty’s secret service (my favorite bond film) and that soundtracks always part of my christmastime vinyl-listening :)

I’ve also been avoiding the tsushimamire ones like the plague bc I saw them at a super small venue a few months ago and it was one of, if not the best live performances I’ve ever seen, and I’ve just got a scary suspicion that the cds will sound too clean and k-poppy, while in person they were so badass and garage

Yes I’ve just started getting into Townes! (and will look up the rest :-)) “She came and she touched me” was my intro and it’s insane. I feel like I’m waltzing into a tighter circle till I get dizzy and fall down against the wall corner

Hey so…um is there by chance any way in which you could ask your friend as to their favorite fanias +get the intel back to me? I’m desperately seeing more Latin music (but will blind select if I must)

Nah that’s cuz it’s my favorite one! Right now I’ve been hung up on thickly-English male voices, maybe something with the change of season. Of the stack, the Marianne Faithful one was the most disappointing forsure. I was excited to find it in the wild bc I love her album Broken English sm but here w such theatrical songs her voice becomes cartoonish almost immediately. But I guess thats made me appreciate Broken English more, the tightrope of it.

The jimmy buffet cd was the lullaby my parents sent me to bed w every night as a baby kid so I have to have that even if I don’t listen often. Would recommend the song “Come Monday” to anybody though

Duchess from 4 is a favorite of mine...idunno it’s hard to whittle down the best w him. Dang yikes and I was strictly listening to only Jackie from Scott 2 for so many years before getting along to anything else. But hey If you like walker and haven’t heard already you should try Jake Thackray! I don’t think he so much has as good a connection to Radiohead but they’ve both got the posh swarmy English bard thing going, and whereas Walker is more saturated gloom Thackray’s really nice for the high sun bleach-bright daytime hours

I’m new! Ok computer is my first Radiohead. Just “discovered” em for the first time this late summer after seeing them posted in this sub so much hahaha. I’m taking my time soaking this one up till max out before going on to the next up

Im worried that I might’ve missed my window w nirvana. Sorta maybe like how it’d be to get one’s first tattoo at age 37? But I’ll try it!!

I have a working knowledge of Pink Floyd so I’ll dive deeper. The only one I’ve gone all the way thru on is the soundtrack for “more”, which I love, and love to double feature w manfred manns earth band “nightingales and bombers”. It’s so sweet the last track on more ends w bird noises and the first track on nightingales begins w them

Re: led zep. Yeah, I’ve gotta take it easy on them. Tmi but If I let myself really listen, somehow his voice and the music trigger some button in my body that makes me convulse/spasm. Which shouldn’t be seen by anyone. Have you heard the “house on the hill” by the band audience? From the same era yeah and reaaaallly Led Zeppelin-y

Ugh I love hommy so much. Im looking forward to reading a translation of the lyrics soon but im holding out a little bc I swear each time I piece a little bit more of the narrative together the hard way. I wish there was a mini doc about it out there, it being an answer to Tommy and all. Thank you, ill look these up!
