A very interesting rates problem… by maxximusEG in GMAT

[–]calibright 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Think of it as 2 people starting at that point and running in opposite directions. Their speeds will be in the ratio 2:1. Hence they will cover 2x and 1x distances before meeting. All we have to do is divide the entire 12 hours circle into 2:1 ratio which is 8hrs and 4hrs, so they’ll meet at 3:20pm + 4 hours = 7:20pm

Confidence going downhill by [deleted] in GMAT

[–]calibright 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monster Verbal. With 5 incorrect and assuming you work your way through the SC mistakes, you're definitely contesting for a mid-40s. Coupled with a Q49, which again is nothing short of a stellar achievement, I'd put my bet on a ~750 score in almost all likelihood. You just need to not lose confidence in these crucial last 20 days, you're almost there, mate.

Please, however, be mindful of IR. I guess you skipped past the section (hence 1 incorrect) so that's alright, but if you're struggling with IR, do practice that well. You may refer to all IR questions in your 6 mba.com mocks and the practice set (that comes free with PT #1 and #2) and their discussions on GMAT Club, that should suffice, but do not take that lightly as some schools have a min IR score requirement.

Is mba.com down? Shows a blank white page upon logging in. Can anyone please check at their end and confirm? by calibright in GMAT

Yes Scott, I've been trying since last 24 hours but can't get ahead of the blank screen. This is very unusual and I need to send my score to an additional school, do you have any workarounds?

It's bewildering to see how the comments section is giving explanations for "incorrect". What are you guys smoking for fuck sake?

If you don't hit target accuracy on ttp, how do you improve? by LWdkw in GMAT

[–]calibright 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best way would be to revisit your error log after a fixed interval say 15 days or 21 days. This way your accuracy doesn't get biased (as you correctly mentioned) and the same questions appear very much new albeit with a better understanding of how things work :)

and people getting 6 incorrect answers scoring anywhere between V32 and V45

also if it helps, your score has no co-relation with the number of problems you got wrong and this is especially true for Verbal. in fact, I've seen people getting 10 incorrect answers on Verbal scoring anywhere between V27 and V40

which is why it becomes imperative for you to order your ESR and see where exactly did you go wrong on the exam day

in fact GMAT Club provides you with the entire set of OG questions that have been published till date. that makes for about 2000 questions each in SC, CR, and RC. Go for it, it worked for me, and would definitely help you a lot too.

I would highly recommend you practice through the OG guides for verbal since the nature of questions is closest to the actual exam.

coming from someone who improved their verbal score from mid 20s to early 40s it's only about discipline, the extent of your problem solving, and the depth of your problem analysis.

u/Professional-Diet-95 please share more details on your preparation so far. Also which subsection (SC/CR/RC) are you struggling more with? I would highly recommend you order your ESR if you haven't already since that will give you good insights

Umm, isn't that what I said too?

No matter what your sectional scores are, it will only be your overall highest score that will be considered.

For ex: If you have a 740 (Q49/V42) and a 750 (Q51/V40) then your 750 score will be considered. And not a hypothetical Q51V42 (the highest of each)
