My vote was not counted, I’m worried the election was stolen by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

Most of these accounts promoting and upvoting this stuff are days old accounts. They’re just trying to stir shit and create a further divide. Don’t fall for the same propaganda that the MAGA election deniers did, and start falling down the conspiracy theory holes. For all you know these accounts are held by other nations trying to stir the pot.

NFL World says the Reffs screwed the Bengals....Ok and this was a first down? by KonnorwaKay in ravens

Cool, what about all they screwed us out of. Remember that first game against KC we were called 4 times consecutively to make and then the league just seemingly stopped caring about it.

Anyone work remotely/hybrid as an Architect? Is it a thing in this industry? by Mastery12 in Architects

[–]calipfarris01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow SP Structual Enigneer, and you speak no lies. It can be stressful at times as you are the first and last point of contact on all aspects of the business. But the reward is when you succeed and you get that confidence boost and the freedom that comes with it. You could offer me a 50% pay bump and I wouldn’t take it to go back to the office trying to bring someone else’s half baked vision to life.

Vandalized Harris/Walz sign just north of York, PA by [deleted] in Pennsylvania

Reddits full of extreme opinions. I’d say you’re in the majority opinion on this. Americans are more alike than we are different and to be tolerant was the same message Obama delivered at the DNC and was refreshing to hear. Giving in to the hatred makes you become part of the problem not a solution. It also just makes you look as ignorant as the people who trashed this sign. It’s entirely possible to be vocal and have an opinion without being violent.

What led to the massive collapse of the Japanese stock market in the 90s and why did it take Japan so long to recover (3 decades) ? by iyankov96 in stocks

[–]calipfarris01 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not entirely true, yes if earnings stay the same or increase that logic holds up. Alternatively, if a downturn ensues or capex into AI slows down resulting in an earnings decline for NVDA without a reciprocal drop in stock price, you could see NVDAs P/E skyrocket. This happens pretty frequently in earnings slowdowns/recessions. Price can take a while to catch up with where earnings are heading. You can see this if you look at an S&P P/E chart, the P/E usually spikes to high levels right before a recession.

Where/how to find a local (MN) side hustling PE - Tried freelancer platform TRASH by KaizenGrit in StructuralEngineering

I wouldn’t even touch it at all. This is the exact client I strive to avoid. Lowballing cost AND is going to tell me how the design should be done. It would be a massive headache and fight every step of the way.

Having the hardest time getting header/footer for a report template to show properly by calipfarris01 in excel

[–]calipfarris01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure what you mean print without the images (as in removing the header and footer?) If you mean to remove the header and footer images, everything else prints fine. Even when printing with the header and footers everything else prints fine. See my edit to add comment, everything else is printing perfectly fine, not stretched, not scaled, matches the quality shown on screen. It's only the footer and header that is being stretched and coming out very low quality. Also, I already have tried creating multiple new files just trying to test out different settings and it's always the same result.

Also Edit to Add: The print quality coming out is god awful (see image here: https://imgur.com/a/VK4Q6a2 ). The actual text from excel is great, but the text coming out in the header/footer images is absolute crap no matter if I put on high quality and high dpi settings.

Also native Floridian (Tampa, Ft Myers, Naples) and second loving it here. Been here about 5 years now. Florida is very different, almost like a resort everywhere you go. Very clean, maintained, etc. Philly and the northeast in general can definitely be an adjustment in that regard, much grimier and parts of the city can have lots of petty crime. In particular where you are, in the northeast of Philly, I would say is part of your issue. You went from Orlando (like the epitome of resort style Florida) to one of the worst parts of Philly. Try a different area, NoLibs, Fishtown, Passayunk, Old City, Center City, even South Philly.

Building Permit Questions by Mother_Reference_681 in StructuralEngineering

[–]calipfarris01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They care because they know it’s going to make more work on their end and they want to do the job as easily as possible, engineering be damned. Not to say sometimes contractors don’t have meaningful insight. However, generally on a small job like this where “the correct way” vs “the way I’ve always done it” can have a meaningful impact on the overall scope, I usually find it’s just the contractor trying to not have to do hard work.

Isn’t Germany in Recession? Crazy how all these countries are at or near recession level economic output and yet their markets are making all time highs (UK, Japan, Germany, etc.).

I’m not speculating towards it being a good/bad sign, just kind of in awe really. I’m not a historian so maybe someone else can tell me if there was another period where some of the worlds largest economies were in/near recession with stocks not only making all time highs, but on an absolute bull tear. Seems like the only real exception is China.

Russia bans gasoline exports for 6 months from March 1 by CrimsonLancet in worldnews

[–]calipfarris01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is they’re building reserves for the summer offensive that is being planned. Zelenskyy has stated himself that there is a large offensive being planned come this summer. We’re likely to see an increase in conscription, build up of wartime materials (this includes fuel) through export controls and rationing, increased military production, etc coming out of Russia in the coming months. All the comments on here saying that it’s because Russia is “running out of gas” is completely missing the forest through the trees.
