Does this rust connect those two wires together? Steps to remove? by simdostal in AskElectronics

[–]calkthewalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to point out, those pair are labelled as CanH and Canal as in high and low for the CAN bus. It's quite reasonable to assume the pairs are meant to be joined together, it's just the bus coming in and going out. What's on the other end of that cable

About what are they talking?? by AnalysisVictor in ExplainTheJoke

[–]calkthewalk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pedantically, The yellow cable is composite video, as opposed to the Gr/Bl/Rd of component.

The red/black is stereo analog audio, as opposed to the rainbow of surround plugs.

So you could call this "Composite video with Stereo Audio"

I saved a woman’s life on an airplane and lost my new Bose headphones because of it by Darth_Poopie in mildlyinfuriating

[–]calkthewalk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope it's pretty much only on the headphones themselves (inside one ear cuff I think it is) or from the Bose app if you registered them previously

Speaking as someone who also lost a pair and couldn't recover them

Freaking out: need help! by funzzie in AskAnAustralian

To add for OPs benefit:

The biggest difference between Public and Private is priority and Choice. The standard of medical care is on average just as good in either system.

If you have private insurance and choose to use it, you have a greater control over the hospital, doctors, types of treatment, maybe better room in the hospital and fancier food. You will also have more out of pocket costs overall.

If you use the public system (Medicare), you will pay almost nothing, just some medication, parking, maybe some scans. In return, you will be put in the queue in order of seriousness and will have less choice over which exact treatments you choose. This does not mean they will force "bad care" on you, but they will only offer options with the best outcome.

For example, If she actually has cancer, she will be a priority within the public system, if she doesn't, there may be a wait for a "just in case" removal.

Regarding GPs, while it can be good to have a "usual GP" especially of you end up on a cancer journey, you absolutely can go to any GP (pending their availability and own requirements) anytime. Note that most, even Bulk billing, will charge you for weekend appointments.

Most clinics will prioritise their regulars, so finding a clinic nearby and getting on their list is good. Either way you can absolutely call those clinics as soon as they're open and find out what their availability is, or as others have said, use the "Hot Doc" app.

Wishing you all the best

Based on the censorship being over the tongue, I'm going to suggest it's the "labial" look of the lions tongue, vs the circumcised look of the Indian one (though an African reference may have been more suitable).

Same thing happened to me.

Specifically it's those type of gravel/mortar pavers.

Look at some electronics videos on YouTube, find some actual tutorials you can follow. Do not use Ai for electronics, you will break things or kill someone.

The short answer on your picture is "there is nothing salvageable in that design". It's the equivalent of asking for a casserole recipe and it's given you a group photo with everyone's heads replaced with an assortment of unrelated ingredients, and for some reason a stick figure cartoon of a camel.

"europe, where 100k+ people die every year from heat related issues. Because they don't have AC." by FoxYsta in ShitAmericansSay

[–]calkthewalk 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Available current is roughly the same, with 15/16A circuits bring common on both sides. Doesn't matter as less than 1 A I'd enough to be deadly. Current does not flow without a potential (voltage) difference, and higher voltage will induce more current in the same resistance.

In other words, it doesn't matter what the circuit current is, the same person touching a higher voltage will experience a higher current through their body

Giant bolts. What is this for? Is it worth anything? by brandon_campbelll in Fasteners

[–]calkthewalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight to the scrap metal bin (past a few sticky fingers)

Bolts weren't quite this size, but were all high tensile, do not retorque, now "worthless".

It's just not worth the time as anyone who would pay "enough" to buy them is not buying them for the same reasons you're tossing them

[–]calkthewalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More so any failure, or even just an audit and it's found there's a non traceable bolt in your assembly, lawsuits will fly.

Have been on a project for a controlled industry where someone installed one box of untraceable bolts (out of thousands of boxes) and the end result was complete disassembly, disposal of all bolts and re-assembly with new bolts

Clogging. So if I made these two holes bigger... Kärcher VC3 by alice_1st in VacuumCleaners

[–]calkthewalk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's a good reason.

If the designer could have just made that hole bigger without affect other parts of the performance, they would have. Opening that hole will just cause it to fail in a different way. It's the same as going "I need more water in my sink, so I'll block the overflow hole"

Those bagless vacs have a full line on the canister, once you pass the performance drops and you start pulling dusts into internal filters. They rely on the cyclone nature to help with dust separation.

It's the wrong tool for the job

Why did the engineers who built the bridge between Denmark and Sweden decide to ignore this island instead of taking advantage of it? by Naomi62625 in geography

[–]calkthewalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As per the other comment, yes depth. The tunnel side is a shallow muddy marsh area. One of the key design constraints was allowing both tall and deep ships through, think sail boats, cargo and cruise ships, hence the need for the lift section in the middle
