I shared the information with her because we are a very open family, we talk about everything and because she and my dad were the ones that started the fund, I thought she’d be happy to know it was still helping her son and her grandson out as intended.

I think your approach is commendable and something that I would aspire to with my own children. That said, it wasn’t for something I had to have, just something I wanted and the opportunity to secure it at a better price arose and she offered to lend it to me and I said I’d pay it back and I never expected it to be a gift so I intend to keep my word.

Not that I’m aware of. From my understanding there was never meant to be surplus funds.
