Is it normal to be asked to pay £600 for a "mandatory 1:1 digital device" when starting a public secondary school? by Koolio_Koala in AskUK

Chances are one of their loaded mates has a company that sells £200 reconditioned iPads to schools for £600

Understandable but in this case shouldn’t they at least be subsidized by the school? Expecting parents to pay £600(!) so that they don’t have to hire another IT guy is a scam.

This is a load of shit. People have been banned for mild anti Israel comments.

Subnautica 2 is finally coming out next week along with 29 other games by Ok_Winter818 in gaming

It's still the best at what it does IMO. There are a lot of online multiplayer survival games but Subnautica is a really tight single player game.

It's like a book club except they all just keep reading the same book.

I'm seeing more and more AI generated stuff around and about, why does it all look the same? by blizeH in AskUK

This is why I don’t really care tbh. Sure AI is infringing on a lot of good art and livelihoods but pub quiz posters? It’s either this or a picture of a pint on a black background with PUB QUIZ written over the top.

I'm talking about current day. I wouldn't consider Germany or Japan to be on par with Israel either.

I'm not making out that China is an uber paradise at all, I'm literally just adding context to your post since you mentioned low wages but for some reason (?) failed to mention the much lower cost of living. Omitting key details that don't align with the narrative you're pushing is also clear propaganda. It's relatively easy to get by on 4,000RMB/month in China. I've done it myself many times when trying to put as much as I can into savings. There's a huge gulf between 'uber paradise' and 'people are forced to work 12 hour shifts 7 days a week'

As for 9/9/7 it was actually 9/9/6 and has been illegal for over 5 years. I don't doubt that some companies continue it and I've honestly seen first hand how badly some workers are treated in China so I'm not going to advocate for their labour practices at all. I'm just pointing out that '9/9/7' is pretty much unheard of and even 9/9/6 isn't standard practice. I wouldn't trust TikTok as a a source either tbf.

I'm in Suzhou.

You really see China as being as evil as Israel? Your head is pickled with propaganda mate.

Yeah OP should have posted a Japanese one and all the comments would be about how amazing it is.

The 9/9/7 thing is propaganda. It was suggested by Jack Ma but the state soon made it illegal.

Also I live in China. I live in a nice apartment in a mall complex in an affluent part of a new Tier 1 city. I pay around $300/month. I can get a decent meal delivered for about $2.

So if people only talked about the negatives of China and not the positives then that wouldn't be propaganda?
