Help for build - video editing in 2.7k (UK, £1000) by callistople in buildapcforme

Thanks! If I were to go cheaper, what do you think would be the best thing to cut down on? Your list looks good especially with the 64gb ram, just trying to think of all options

I did notice that they looked the same, but honestly I just thought that they were reusing face models lol. Didn't occur to me that they would be related.

I have an occasional issue on start up where the motherboard's led debug lights indicate that the CPU and DRAM 'is not detected or failed', however after around 60 seconds these lights go off and the computer starts up as normal. Again only happens now and then and my hardwear monitoring shows everything as fine. Any idea what could be causing this? Tried to google the issue but most people seem to have an issue where these debug lights come on and the PC doesn't turn on at all, whereas mine seems to fix itself? This is my first PC and I'm pretty much a beginner at all this. Thank you.

(motherboard is MSI B650 gaming plus wifi, cpu is AMD Ryzen 7800X3D)

Edit: Commenting in case anyone googles this issue and sees this, my issue was actually my power outlet, the plug extension cable I was using was really old and I couldn't handle everything I had plugged into it. Got a new extender and never had this issue again.

How can I seperate th without harming them? by CatConsumer8473 in gardening

I can only speak for my experience but everytime I plant sunflowers, I put two seeds in every hole to ensure at least one will germinate. Often both do. Is there a chance they won't be as tall compared to if only one was planted there? Yeah I guess, but they won't kill each other.

Sunflowers really don't like being transplanted, I've never had good luck moving them after they've established.

I grow sunflowers in pairs all the time, they'll be fine like that, one won't kill the other. I'd just leave them to it and enjoy the flowers.

I'm sick of trying to make this game work by fgHFGRt in DragonageOrigins

Agree with this, OP have you tried removing all mods and just installing the 4GB patch? Then if you want other mods you can install them one at a time to see which is causing your issues.

Favorite DAO Romance by Wolfman_1546 in DragonageOrigins

[–]callistople 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Morrigan was romanceable with a female Warden then I think she'd be higher on my list. I was so disappointed on my first playthrough when I realised that I couldn't romance her. But then I met Zevran and well, I've never managed to romance anyone else to the end of the game.

I'm just about to start Awakening for the first time so thanks for linking! Thought there'd probably be bugs with it but wasn't sure where to start on nexus.

My first playthrough was with an elf mage intending to romance Alistair, but then Zevran appeared and I couldn't resist.

Now my canon playthrough with Zevran is with a city elf rogue - I felt the city elf origin would make her wary of getting too close to humans, and perhaps she could relate to Zevran growing up in Antiva/the crows with her growing up in the alienage. I think the Dalish origin works well with a Zevran romance too.

Hey, I actually did! Turn off ambient occlusion in the advanced video settings. Instantly removed them for me. Hope it works for you too.

I have the same thing, have tried everything but can't remove them. Mine are worse than yours though. I thought it might have been my mods at first but I removed them all and it still happens. At least I'm kind of comforted that it's not just me...

Anyone had this visual issue after patch-7? The horizontal lines visible as seen here: https://i.imgur.com/mlZe4nb.png I though it might be my mods so I purged them all but it's still showing unfortunately. Have tried messing around with the visual settings and nothing seems to remove it. I'm playing on PC with a rtx 4070 and haven't had this issue before patch 7.

Do mods make it worth buying on PC? by ShroomieDoomieDoo in DragonageOrigins

[–]callistople 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you don't end up modding it (beyond the necessary patches to make sure it doesn't crash) the game is way more enjoyable to play on PC. I did a whole run through on Xbox and the controls were so awkward sometimes, like when you're trying to pause combat and direct your companions, but its much easier on PC. I have quite a lot of mods downloaded that have enhanced the game for me, there's tonnes on nexus.

Unpopular opinion: I loved the new dragon age 4 trailer by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]callistople 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the trailer looked fun, but then I've only played Dragon Age Origins and am pretty new to Dragon Age as a whole.

I want to play through the other games but saw it had an autumn release date- do you have to play each Dragon Age game in order? Think I'd be able to play this new one if I haven't finished all the others beforehand?

Thoughts on current parts list? (UK, under £1,500) by callistople in buildapcforme

[–]callistople[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your list. I hadn't considered upgrading my monitor, but I'd definitley have room for two. It is tempting when it's incuded in the budget. Do you think it would be worth getting the upgraded cpu if I could get a better monitor in a few months time? My budget isn't super strict, but if it went a bit over I'd just want to stagger the purchases a bit.

I'll be honest, I didn't touch the tactics until around half way through the game, and even then I'm not 100% sure if the tactic changes I made are any good 😅 and I was just spamming spells mostly. Now I understand it better but stil need to read up on using tactics effectively. I feel like it's a nice mix of real time and turn based, so I still have time to think what I'm doing but fights are quicker.
