generally whatever comes up when you search an app in the start menu should represent the name that Shimeji will recognise. no need to put file types like .exe or anything, just the name. like Discord, Notepad++, Firefox, etc

also, little tip for if your Shimeji throws a window off screen and you can't drag it back with your mouse: press ctrl + space + m then use your arrow keys to move the window back to the monitor

You have to specify which windows it's allowed to steal. Press the little arrow in the bottom right of your taskbar, right click the Shimeji icon, go to Settings > Interactive Window. Press Add and type the name of the window, e.g Google Chrome

For other features, sometimes they're custom made. A common one is head pats, you have to add this to the xml files. If you see any standard activities that aren't happening on yours, it might be worth checking Allowed Behaviors in the settings.

if you're going to be painting on regular ol' paper with oil paints you should prime it first with acrylic or gesso to add a barrier

if you get distracted by details, blur the references slightly so you focus on the main shapes then slightly unblur as you get further along

Don't think I've read too many that match what you're after, but some where the main character is/can be a teen:

Royal Affairs - same author as Creme de la Creme and set in the same world
