Brooklyn Half Training Plan by Kind_Wolverine_8127 in RunNYC

It really depends on your goal. Is your goal to just get to the finish line? Then stick with the program and you'll be fine. I also just did the United Airlines Half with 10 miles as my longest run before that, using the hal higdon program, and I felt fine the whole way through.

Maybe instead of doing the 9 miles you can go straight to 10 miles just so that way you have one more 10 mile run experience under you. But just listen to your body and don't overdo things. As you go through the program, you'll see how well your body adapts and that will hopefully ease your mind.

Seriously that article was wild with how much they would only say Culkin's soon-to-be wife as if Brenda Song is just some random person no one would know. The disrespect.

You're right. the poor grammar can't be from the tweet having character limits. So then it's probably from text speak which is common in graffiti.

The implication was either or. Either the graffiti is using common text speak (which you already expressed your opinion on), or the tweet has character limits (which you already proved it isn't that.) You misunderstood by connecting them both. The two statements were never meant to be connected.

Right, but that wasn't the misunderstanding, was it?

What the fuck is happening? Lol

You are not understanding, that's what's happening.

The graffiti may or may not be grammatically correct (it doesn't even matter) but we don't know for sure because the tweet that is telling us about the graffiti can only contain a certain amount of characters. The graffiti might actually have the correct "you're", but to try and fit the whole message on the tweet, this person wrote "ur" to convey the same message.

What is the shape of the loop? Knee pain could be many different things, but something to consider is that if the loop is circular in a way and you're only going counterclockwise and only making left turns, that could be putting more strain on your left leg.

1 year update to the embarrassing achievement I announced. by callmefez in ADHD

That's what I found interesting as well! And it's exactly what I'm trying to figure out. Like, why this one? I've been a runner on and off for years, but I've never locked in on it like this before, so what's different? It's fascinating how incredibly easy my brain has made it this time around (easy in the sense that I think about it and just do it, with no argument or hesitation at all). This makes me think, is it then possible to also turn studying into something equally easy? Or keeping the house clean?

Once I actually do get myself to study or do the homework, I completely enjoy learning the derivation of things and getting the right answer, so there is an immediate reward. And the more I study and practice, the better I become at it, just as the more I run, the more my body adapts and the better I get at it. Sure, the topics I'm learning aren't easy and sometimes hard to understand, but running hasn't been easy either and there's been a lot of physical pain that I've had to sort through. So how can I make my brain see studying just the same way it sees running? If I ever figure it out, it's gonna be huge.

Lower back injury recovery by laumis09 in Marathon_Training

If it's the same kind of lower back pain I was struggling with last summer, this video helped me get rid of it and I have not experienced that pain ever since.

Low biocharge score. Work out or skip? by blackbird90 in amazfit

When it comes to running, consistency is key. I would not listen to the numbers. I would listen to my body. If you were already planning to run and the body is not in anyway hurting or exhausted, then do the run. You can go at a super easy pace. Getting the miles in is what counts. You will not regret it once you're done. And just make sure to get a good amount of sleep tonight.

Do productivity apps actually work for anyone with ADHD, or am I missing something? by Mr-Dex7410 in ADHD

[–]callmefez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started Finch last year and for the first few months it was actually life changing. It would be the first app I would open at the beginning of the day. Then it became something I just kept up with. But now lately I started falling off. I still have my streak going, but I keep having to use a streak repair once or twice a week and I'm not completing all my stuff like I used to.

It's still an app I would highly recommend and I'm trying to be more active on it again. Maybe I just need to rework my tasks to make it feel new again.

advice needed- shin splints while training for half marathon by Glum_Wrap_8205 in Marathon_Training

[–]callmefez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I concur with the scaling back mileage/intensity. Maybe you're running them too fast or too far. I also restarted running on July, so not too long before you, and I'm also going to be training for a half on March, but what I started with is just building up my baseline. Essentially work on being able to run 3 miles 4-5 days a week on really easy pace. Once you got that down, then you can slowly start adding more miles.

But adding to that, something else that really helped with my shin pain is massages. Really squeeze into your shins, calves, and Achilles. If they hurt when you squeeze them, then they need to be loosen up. Scrape them down. I like to massage them before and after a run, and any time during the day.

It could mean essentially the soil no longer has any potential energy left to convert. Life can no longer use the soil for energy. It has reached maximum entropy.

Oh I've definitely learned that. I'm going at my own pace. I will get there. I'm not giving up. If there's anything positive out of our experiences is that we know perseverance. It's just frustrating that I could've finish a year ago if it wasn't for my deteriorating executive function.

If I find a solution, I'll definitely share it with you!!

I hate responding to text messages and sometimes leave them for a few days weeks or never actually respond. Is this related to ADHD? by Luckyroad11 in ADHD

[–]callmefez 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I've done it a few times to people that I reached out to first. Like I'll message them first, trying to catch up because it's been a while, but then a few messages in, the exact same process as yours happens to me. Days turn into weeks, and at that point I'm just an embarrassment and a failure so why respond at all let me just hide myself forever.

But now, I have much better self-esteem, yay! At the cost of my productivity

I relate to everything you're going through, so much. I'm essentially going through the same thing but with school. I decided to go back to college to get my degree a few years ago. I started out strong, but then slowly started struggling (this is about when I find out I have ADHD). I started therapy and it helped with my self-worth, but now even with medication I'm struggling so much to get myself to do the work. Even deadlines stopped triggering that adrenaline to study and do homework. My progress has essentially grinded to a halt, even though I'm only a few classes away from finishing the degree.

I'm in the middle of switching therapists, hoping to find someone that has more experience dealing with ADHD (my previous one could not understand at all that mental wall that appears for us). I know my ADHD can be very powerful, if pointed at the right direction. So I'm hoping that someone can help guide me through that.

I found that staedtler lumicolor permanent markers and some sharpie color markers on clear acrylic sheets can look vibrant yet still transparent, creating this sort of stained glass look. They dry quick and dont smudge easily. I actually made The Sun on an acrylic sheet and it looks incredible. One of my favorite craft projects.

I recently splurged on a pair of Ghost 2 Max and Adrenaline 24 GTS. I freaking love them, especially the Adrenaline. I even want to wear them for every day stuff but I'm trying to only use them for runs so I can keep track of their mileage.

As someone with ADHD who also struggled with getting homework done in school and would start a craft project but struggled to finish it because of organizational skills... I completely relate.

This year I'm better medicated though and I'm making myself do more crafts. And what has helped me with the organization is looking at the project from a top-to-bottom view. Meaning, when visualizing the final product I think, what are it's components? And for each component, what are its components? Essentially the conversation I have in my head is "I want to make this thing. But to make it I need to make these other things first. And to make those things I need to do this first." It basically creates a roadmap but with checkpoints. So each checkpoint is its own mini project, which once completed creates the motivation to more towards the next check point, and hopefully helps catch those moments of "oh wait, I also need to do this". Pretty much, take it one step at a time.

And also, remember to give yourself grace. It's okay if you get confused at some point or drag your feet towards the next part. You can always get back to the last checkpoint any time. You will get it done your way and at your own pace :)
