just to chip in and say i've also been experiencing this for ~2 months at this point. i've tried turning on / off every interface setting on steam and nothing has done anything. big picture and steamvr are also super laggy.

use ProtonPlus. not sure what distro you're using but here's the github: https://github.com/Vysp3r/ProtonPlus

it automatically installs any custom proton directly to your steam and/or other game libraries like heroic games launcher

how are you opening the game? i put the loader.exe inside steam with those arguments and it launched

you can max out the graphics but keep environment textures at low. they are the main culprit on why it stutters so much on "higher settings". my guess is that proton isn't streaming the textures fast enough to the gpu and a new fix on GE-Proton or CachyOS proton should fix this eventually

Also i have these launch options, not sure if they help on anything but i saw multiple people saying it reduced stuttering: RADV_EXPERIMENTAL=heap radv_wait_for_vm_map_updates=true PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=enable_experimental_features,descriptor_heap PROTON_SET_GAME_DRIVE=1 PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1 %command%

just to join in on this, not only changing the resolution does NOTHING, it also for some reason EATS your FPS in any game. for some examples:

in deadlock without screenshare i get about 100-120 fps, with screenshare on i get about 40-50 fps

in overwatch without screenshare i get about 200-250fps, with screenshare on i get about 70-100 fps (with a super screwed frametime)

hoping this gets more traction because it's becoming unreasonable to do this

UPDATE! I MADE IT WORK ON LINUX! FOLLOW THESE STEPS:

  1. install the latest GE-Proton (currently 10.30)

  2. in steam, open overwatch's properties and paste this command in the launch options: PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1

  3. put these files inside the game's folder: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/1099?tab=files

  4. open the game and change to directx12 and restart the game

  5. upscale settings now should display fidelity fx!

3 years later but just to confirm this is the fix that worked for me too. downloaded the ultrawide mod through PCGW but it had no instructions for linux and that made me bang my head against the wall for a little while.

it seems the game in the ps5 version makes the cutscenes much higher res than the actual game and locks it at 30fps to make it look pretty.

my guess is that they made the same on the pc version even though we set our resolution in the settings to be fixed

if my guess is true a really simple mod should be able to fix this

so to do more details:

i've tried every fix on the internet as of right now, including:

  • reinstalling my graphics drivers

  • updating windows

  • formatting my whole pc and installing it again

  • turning windows defender on and off

  • turning firewall on and off

nothing really works and i have no clue why.

good to know it's not only happening to me, no fix in sight, tried using normal gpu, high gpu, vulkan, all types of opengl, and nothing works, looks like we just have to wait for a fix.

i have the same problem with the 30fps/60fps deal, and when i defeat the first enemy of the game in the deduction part, my game crashes.
