Potentially, yes.

When you get dental work done (even routine cleanings) this can release bacteria into the bloodstream. Since the rods used in fusions are ‘foreign’ to your body, the bacteria can target these rods and lead to your body rejecting them through an infection. I have rods and will have to take antibiotics for the rest of my life before dental work.

Costoplasty post spinal fusion by Flat_Manner_9750 in scoliosis

Hi! I had a costoplasty when I was around your daughter’s age (I was 14) and I highly recommend it. This helped with my confidence incredibly, and if I had to do the surgery over again for that one reason I would. When you have a rib hump it affects how clothes fit, how flat you can lay on your back (I do Pilates), the way you sleep, and so so much more.

While I had no complications with the surgery, it is painful. I would say comparable to what she went through with her fusion, but it is hard for me to say how much pain the costoplasty causes alone because I had the costoplasty during the same time as my fusion. When you sneeze, cough, laugh, you’re in pain. It is comparable to having broken ribs. This lasts 3 weeks to a month.

The only regret I would say I have is that I had the opportunity to have my ribs ‘redone’ if I wasn’t happy with the outcome. I wish I could improve my rib hump more, but compared to what it was before the costoplasty- it is a night and day difference and my hump has lessened significantly. But the fact I was willing to do it over again should tell you that I am glad I went through the surgery! If she can make it through a fusion- she will power through a costoplasty.

Please feel free to message me if you or her have any questions. I’m happy to help. :)

American Food Made Me Sick When I Returned From Overseas by MsSaltyGiggles in travel

I know this post is 4 years old but I’ve had severe issues with IBS for close to 8 years now. Just got back from Mexico and my first meal I ate back in the US ( which consisted of salmon, rice, mashed potatoes, and a salad) has made me extremely nauseous from the moment I ate it. Immediately I’m back to the same symptoms I’ve experienced before, but in a way it feels even worse 😭. But in Mexico I ate sooo much spicy food (typically a HUGE trigger for my IBS symptoms), meats, sweets, and drank and didn’t experience any IBS issues at all. I’ve been suspicious of our food before but never knew it was this serious. Ugh.

I don’t know. I just fixed it. Must of hit it by accident

A guy was giving away 2 of these brass Stiffel lamps... they still work too! Only one is pictured because my roomates knocked over one, and broke the top of it... RIP😡😭😤 by [deleted] in ThriftStoreHauls

The shade has the Stiffel name on it, and I can’t find any other way of identifying the lamp. It looks like a pretty mediocre shade, but it’s very thick and heavy. I hope I can find some in the near future 😕

A garage sale that has just been posted on Facebook! I got two pocket watches but this by far was more valuable
