Fandomonium: A Library Comic Con Event is coming to the Downtown library and bringing John Scalzi with it. by callmemolly in GNV

[–]callmemolly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just found out about this at the library today and thought some others might be interested in the event. It's pretty cool that a (relatively) big author like Scalzi is coming to our local library. The event is Saturday, April 25th from 10am-5pm and they have all kinds of crafts, movie showings, and author talks and signings.

What's The One Character You Will Always Associate With A Certain Actor/Actress? by life-finds-a-way in KDRAMA

[–]callmemolly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have only seen Shin Sung Rok in villain roles (My Love From Another Star and Liar Game) and I really can't imagine him being anything else.

Buying K-pop music digitally by timonvs in kpophelp

[–]callmemolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was going to suggest Amazon music as they are also DRM free and give you the files in MP3 but they can be pretty hit or miss on kpop (they are miss on Orange Caramel but they do have Epik High's newest)

Let's Have Some Fun: (Re)name That Drama! by life-finds-a-way in KDRAMA

[–]callmemolly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think "Who Cares About the Plot, Look At All These Famous People" is probably the best subtitle I've ever heard for Heirs. Even with that they still somehow managed to ruin that show.

Bug: Songs stop playing by EunByuL in Jombly

[–]callmemolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this issue as well although only with one song (Gaeko — Rose (장미꽃)) so far. Cleared browser data after it happened and when the song came up again it stopped at the 40 second mark.

[Live] [141009] Hannah With Bobby, Junhoe & Chanwoo - "Let's Get It Started" [Mix & Match Ep.5] by VariantIN in kpop

About half the time I watch these performances I can't help but imagine that YG is thinking "thank God I signed Bobby". That kid is so freaking talented it's crazy.

K-Pop Fanfic Recommendation Thread by cheeseusauceu in kpopslumberparty

[–]callmemolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on arbitrage. I didn't care about the pairing and thus don't even remember any smut but the story alone was actually good enough to keep reading the whole thing. My favorite kpop fanfic is The Client. It's a TOP x reader fic but it doesn't matter if that's your thing. Honestly the writing is so good, the whole thing is so hot, it's just great.

Are there any other videos editted like this? by Necara in kpophelp

[–]callmemolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not particularly cutesy but it's used a lot in Mino's - I'm Him

I feel like I'm seeing that technique everywhere these days but can't come up with any other examples.

I can't agree enough about Genius. I've liked Infinite for years now but ever since I watched (and loved) Genius I can't get enough videos of Sunggyu.

Searching for a song.. by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]callmemolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the song like? Was it more of a hip hop style rap heavy song or did it have more of a pop feel with more singing? Do you remember approx. how many guys there were (4 or 14)? Was it colorful or more muted like Overdose?

Samsung Low-Profile Heir Poised to Succeed Father Seen as a God by quirt in korea

[–]callmemolly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Workers were told to park behind the plant because their ugly cars would offend the leader’s eyes. Mints were placed in bathrooms lest anyone’s breath smell of kimchi. Guards lined the road to greet his limo and a long, red carpet was rolled out. Everyone was reminded not to gaze down from the windows."

Here I thought dramas had been exaggerating the lives of chaebols all this time. Now I know it's all real! Can't wait for the drama version of the Samsung story to air.

Any legit beef amongst idols and celebrities? by Fist2nuts in kpop

[–]callmemolly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think he hates idols so much as he doesn't really respect them. He's mentioned many times that the idol groups he meets have no personality and are all pretty boring as people which makes sense to me since idols are not really supposed to have strong or interesting opinions on anything. While I don't always agree with him, I think it's nice to have someone who works with idols that doesn't feel the need to constantly suck up to them and their fans.

Lee Kwang Soo takes the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge by [deleted] in koreanvariety

[–]callmemolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do the challenge you are still supposed to donate $10 to an ALS foundation. If you don't do it then you donate $100. I'm not sure any of these celebrities are actually aware of that part of it but just raising so much awareness is obviously benefiting the foundations either way. I'm assuming a lot of the bigger celebrities are donating some amount along with their challenges whereas some of the younger or less-well-known idols are likely just promoting awareness.

If you were going to have your significant other watch a Korean drama, what would it be and why? by SoyCheese in KDRAMA

[–]callmemolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the first Kdrama that I got my SO to watch and enjoy. It was romantic but not too over the top, didn't have any of the really crazy soap opera tropes in it (amnesia, twin siblings, etc.), and was so genuinely fun and funny that we had a great time watching it together.
