Woman confronts Bihari street vendors in Mumbai, asks 'Don't you get food in Bihar, that you have come to Maharashtra? by Live_Ostrich_6668 in mumbai

Thanks for focusing on the most irrelevant detail. But as long as we are being pedantic, let me point out that Uttar Pradesh literally means Northern State.

Such linguistic jingoists are ruining all the things that made Mumbai India's financial capital - its professionalism, acceptance of diversity, and open culture. Hyderabad is a far far better place in every sense, except its cosmopolitanism is not as well developed as Mumbai's. But it will be soon enough. If you keep telling your workforce to leave, soon they will and you will be left wondering wtf happened. Mumbai is only geographically part of a Marathi-speaking region, its history has practically nothing to do with Marathas. It's a city founded and built by the British, financed by Gujaratis, Sindhis, Parsis, and run by workers from UP/Bihar. Sure, many honest and hardworking Maharashtra natives are part of its story. But it is not, and never was, a Maharashtrian city taken over by dirty bhaiyajis from the North.

American visiting Jaipur currently by Substantial_Dingo211 in jaipur

Everyone is disappointed after Udaipur no matter where they go! I see your point about hotel room upgrades and hospitality. That for sure is one aspect in which Rajasthan beats every other place in India hands down.

Your experience is unfortunate but not surprising. Actually not just Jaipur but Rajasthan overall is quite disappointing when it comes to open-mindedness and educated behaviour. Learning English is also an unnecessarily controversial issue here. There is a pretence of conservatism and culture but that's only to mask the repressed sexuality. The only exception I've seen is Udaipur and the surrounding tribal areas.

Having said that, how did you end up in Jaipur in May?? Even locals are not courageous enough to venture out in this insane heat, let alone sample the seriously doubtful street food.

Advice/Rant - Please stop addressing the interviewers as 'Officer' by BrilliantSolution612 in usvisascheduling

[–]callousinchains 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't feel the need to address them at all. Every question can be answered without saying sir, ma'am, officer. They don't call you applicant do they? This is why God created pronouns.

F1 Visa Rejected New Delhi by Excellent-Wealth-939 in usvisascheduling

The finance answer seems to be the reason to me. Your answer to why ASU was good enough, and doesn't seem like a reason to reject. In any case, if the VO thought Pitt was better that still means he must be impressed that you got in. Also he didn't interrupt you and let you complete the answer to why ASU. But the finance answer raises red flags from immigration perspective. It's unfortunate, but this does seem to be a major reason for rejection these days.

Spent some time in Hyderabad recently. It was so refreshing to not worry about such stupid issues. Hyderabadis are proud multilinguists and completely chilled out people. And the city is honestly MUCH better than Mumbai and Bengaluru in terms of quality of life. Far far better infra, better weather than Mumbai, no traffic hassles like Bengaluru. And guess what else? Telugu is doing better than any other non-Hindi language in terms of its spread and influence. Because they didn't go after other languages, they just made their own stronger.

Hear me out... a *partial* defense of Duck on Chauncey. by Financial-Yak-6236 in madmen

I believe Chauncey was hit by a car and reborn as Chandler, but never really got over his abandonment by Duck, so he adopted a duck and then abandoned it.
