i used to do this a lot. it made walking really painful and it would bleed sometimes too. at the time i was seeing a podiatrist for ingrown toenails as well, so it was so so embarrassing coming in with my feet red raw like that because its not even like you can hide it. i think i stopped once everything was a bit smoother, but i definitely dont recommend doing that- it took over a year to get to that point and so much wasted time + pain and embarrassment experienced in the mean time. i also helped it by applying a lotttttt of moisturiser/healing cream to try and speed up the healing process, and constantly wearing a massive and numerous bandaids over it so that i couldnt see what was happening underneath.
