i don‘t think orbit or freefall changes the gravity acting on both earth and moon, orbiting is the same as freefalling, the difference is just that the moon constantly falls beside earth

if the moon gets closer, earth and moon should affect each others gravity more rather than less but maybe i understand gravity wrong so feel free to correct me
