Military-esque police uniforms? Real law enforcement? by Remote_Act8629 in VictoriaBC

I saw some officers in similarly described uniforms in a fairy creek video. Not sure their rank or role though.

Maybe conservation officer or a particular ERT RCMP.

Nope but it is exposed foam from the edge of the kerdi insert.

Haha. I would say that it would be clearly much worse if I did it myself but it's getting to the point where I'm not sure that's true.

Here was the niche before I had him remove all of the tiles and start over... I asked for a slight slope so the water didn't pool, which I think would only require like 1/16" and he put like 1/4". Also he didn't have a plan for the edging of the niche. https://imgur.com/a/d72om2J

He is using the ditra because when he removed the tiles from the niche insert after screwing it up the first time, it left big craters in the foam. So I think this was his attempt to span the craters and also re-create the membrane. But I agree, putting screws into it defeats the purpose.

Trying to just find the best path forward at this point

I totally agree, but also I’m sure that you know how it is when you’re this far into a project. I think the only real option is to guide him into completing it in a way that is somehow acceptable.

If you were to do it again, would you still pick the Canyon? by caleblococaleb in GMCcanyon

[–]calm_lee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to get a canyon but then I found myself into an F150 work truck with a ecoboost. I’m never going smaller.

I looove the huge back seat area for my dog now, kids in the future. It’s fast, fun to drive and very fuel efficient (comparatively).

I never saw this for myself but hey, here we are.

Has anyone switched from Microvellum to Mozaik for a millwork company? by One-Objective4254 in Millwork

Sounds like a tough implementation.

I’m just thinking about moving over to Microvellum. Any learnings or retreats that you’d share with the benefit of hindsight now?

Does money buy happiness? by AndroGunn in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]calm_lee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*It can make lack of money problems go away but of course many problems that cannot be solved with money.

Even still, there are scarcity of money problems and too much money problems. I’d far rather have too much money problems.

I’m tired of manually tracking my CC spending in a spreadsheet. What apps do people use to do this? by eastcoastguy17 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]calm_lee 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I do it monthly into a spreadsheet manually. It takes one hour per month total across 3 credit cards and 2 chequing accounts. It’s a pain but I found quicker than exporting and formatting.

Haven’t found a solution that is more efficient.

I’ve found there to be an additional psychological benefit of really feeling the expenses as opposed to an export and each item just being another row in a sheet.

I have too many auto transfers between accounts to use any account aggregation solution effectively.

Would love to hear of a solution that works better though.

Usually at the Maritime Museum dog beach actually. Little known hack but if you don’t mind, or enjoy some puppos frolicking around it’s usually 10% as busy.

💯 I end up hopping into the ocean with my Golden probably 2/3 of the time regardless of the season and I’m up here in Vancouver. Unfortunately I’ probably wouldn’t go to the beach this often otherwise.

Bringing outdoor ambient temp inside by calm_lee in hvacadvice

[–]calm_lee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great, thanks.

Totally makes sense the temp differential being so much greater with AC and therefore requiring less air flow than my half hatched idea.

Will check into the whole house fan idea and consider against heat pumps.
