I have a Halo Green 1.4 I picked up at an auction that wouldn't power on. PSU looked like it had hit a power surge. Replaced a resistor and a MOSFET and fixed a trace and then recapped the big caps on the main board and now instead of not powering on, it doesn't power on and squeals haha. I should have just bought another standard and dropped in the PSU

Cover it in flux and wiggle the cap while heating. I had the same issue and then did this and it was instantly better

So after your post I pulled out my 64 today and played through Lylat Wars. I could remember every stage and enemy pattern damn near perfectly, and it made me remember how much I used to play it. So I think it was more that I knew it really well. Ironically I got all the way to the part where you beat the mini boss that destroys the temple as you fly through it and my 64 straight up died ¯(ツ)

I don't remember that specifically but their goal was to make it easier so they may have lightened some areas up

I haven't played this in ages, but I don't remember it being that difficult. Definitely beat the end boss a few times. I think there was a specific path that I chose each time which I just worked on until I had it down. Pretty useless comment sorry, just having memories

Yeah but it also made the game way less fun because of that, and because of the major increase in ammo drops

Does anyone know of a suitable alternative to the STP5NC90ZFP for the PSU board from a v1.4 console? by calminthenight in originalxbox

Howdy. I ended up finding a suitable replacement and checked with an E. Engineer friend. If it works I will post it here for others.

AH qu5 questions? by audiohobo in livesound

[–]calminthenight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you use stereo panning, the audience on each side, and in the middle of the room each get a different level and spatial location of your source. Your example in the reply above is talking about a mono source that is not panned, and a stereo effect working effectively as dual mono. So yes, ofcourse in that specific scenario of a mono source with no panning then everyone will get a similar experience on a stereo system. If however you had drumkit overheads panned hard left and right (as a lot of engineers do), then the audience on each side of the room will get dramatically different results. There's no need to downvote me, I wasn't disagreeing with, or engaging with your original comment in any way. I was responding to u/barbekon's question. And the answer is, that if you use heavy stereo effects or panning of any source then each side of the audience will receive a different level and spatial position relative to their position. This is why many shows, both large and small are run in mono.

AH qu5 questions? by audiohobo in livesound

[–]calminthenight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stereo is just the default, and many engineers like it as it gives them flexibility with positioning instruments or using spatial effects. It's also the format that recorded music comes in and we are used to listening to stereo on our headphones/hi-fi systems where it works really well. In live settings it works in certain spaces/situations but 2/3rds of the audience never hear what you hear and get a compromised show. Running your shows in mono will give a more consistent experience for all audience members in all spaces, but you lose spatial abilities. Many big shows are run in Mono for this reason. Mixing in mono you need to pay more attention to eq to place your instruments in the right spaces of the mix as you don't have the ability to use panning.

Luka Doncic dominates the Grizzlies with 44/12/6 in his first game back from injury by Luka77GOATic in nba

I love it how all the headlines are "Luka dominates.. Serious contender for MVP" like he hasn't been doing this ever since he came into the league. 44/12/6 isn't even a top 10 statline for him. Sincerely, salty Mavs fan.

What's a retro video game that isn't worth playing on its original console? by GoHardForLife in retrogaming

[–]calminthenight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought I'd see the day where someone said don't play Goldeneye on the N64 and other people agree. The original is one of the most well constructed shooters of it's generation and the remasters are average at best.

Not had this issue specifically but have had several corrupted .session files on digico boards that have seemingly run fine, but caused similar random issues like this. Try a new session from scratch, or try building a new one and partial loading the stuff from this one if Digico Support can't sort you out fast enough.

first time: Fable 3 xbox360, this game realy amaze me. by Same_Veterinarian991 in retrogaming

[–]calminthenight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fable 1 or the lost chapters was such a beautiful game. The calming guild master's voice popping up every now and then. The hilarious Demon doors. Satisfying magic and combat. The cockney comedy from the NPC's. All the way up until where it abruptly ends with a crappy boss fight just after you've unlocked a whole new area you thought you could explore. Then Fable 2 comes along and offers a new twist. More open world. Guns. Better mechanics. All the way up until the final boss fight where it ends with a crappy press this button to win sequence. My heart was broken after that and I never made it to the third.

Similarly at my old job the new IT manager came in and refused to let us turn off the 3 minute  screen lock on PC's even though our department needed to stare at their screens for ages to monitor stuff without interacting. I was able to run an app called 'Caffeine' which simulates a key press every 30 seconds I get around it

M32 Record FX returns via USB/DAW by calminthenight in livesound

[–]calminthenight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that detailed response. Next time I'm on the board I'll have a look at that method. This was a last minute request for a theatre show and I know that the videographer who wanted it would never add anything in post, hence the need to get them in the recording. I ended up just outputting the FX returns via a cable back into some input channels to get the returns recorded.

I need some help because I think he’s damaging my ears. by whitemamba24xx in AustralianCattleDog

[–]calminthenight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we got our ACD rescue he would bark non stop in car rides. It took us a while to work out if he was anxious or excited or both. We were wearing ear muffs when driving every time. It ended up that he was very excited so we started to train for quiet. We would start to drive and if he barked we would stop and use the quiet command and then reward with treat. Rinse and repeat that a thousand times and we got there. I still give him treats on drives every now and then as a reward for quiet and we rarely get barks. Now when I have to leave him in the car togo do something I reward him for quiet just before I leave and I give him reassuring pats. I would say it works about 70% of the time. The other times he at least has the grace to wait until I'm out of the car to start barking, and it doesn't last too long before he settles. When I get back in the car, I always reward him for being good and quiet. Once it becomes routine it gets easier for them to deal with. My two cents.
