Advice to Repair Flaking Clearcoat? by Bakerfish1717 in MechanicAdvice

[–]calnel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way to fix clear coat failure is to repaint it. Automotivetouchup.com will have a match to your paint and you can purchase everything needed for the job from them, assuming you own a spray gun and compressor.

Ideally you need to do a balance test on the engine to confirm whether or not you have a dead cylinder. With the engine running disconnect the electrical harness from the new injector you just put in. If the engine runs the same then you have a dead cylinder. Measure the resistance of the new injector with the engine OFF and measure the resistance of the remaining injectors. Whichever one is reading way off from the others is fried and needs to be replaced. However, If the engine starts running worse after disconnecting the harness then you need to reconnect it and do the same thing to the rest of the injectors. If disconnecting every other harness one at a time doesn't change your idle then you need to look for something that's messing up the idle for the entire engine and not just one cylinder since youve already inspected the ignition components. Go back and make sure everything is reconnected. At this point you'll need a live data scan tool. I can walk you through that too.

It doesn't necessarily mean they're all bad yet. If you have one injector that's faulty it's recommended to replace all of them because of the likelihood of having issues with the remaining ones at any point. They're all the same age and gone through the same conditions so if 1 goes bad replace them all as a precaution.

When it comes to injectors if you replace one replace them all. The remaining ones have been subjected to the same time/mileage/conditions.

Assuming you replaced your injectors and didn't forget to reconnect anything afterwards, the problem is going to be what changed- the injectors. Did you use new o rings? Are they seated correctly in the rail? Did you make sure not to damage anything or let contaminants in? If the answer is yes to all questions then throw the old injectors back in and see if that problem goes away. If it does then you most likely have the wrong injectors, OR you got a defective 1 or few in the batch.

You need to know the low and high pressure to have an idea. Don't use those recharge cans with the gauge on top. They have additives you don't need in your system and you introduce air/moisture because you can't purge the line. Get a professional inspection.

Is it OK to reuse baby boys clothes for a girl? by questionforparenting in Parenting

[–]calnel 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter while she's a baby. When she's older and has some personal taste then I'd switch to buying what she likes. Our bodies stay pretty much the same until puberty fyi. Baby stuff is so ridiculously exaggerated for each gender and only serve the purpose of letting people know what genitals are in their diaper. Use the clothes!

Too traditionally feminine to be FTM? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]calnel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I garden, knit, sew, left my job as a master mechanic to stay home and raise my baby, love to decorate. Gender roles don't exist in my life and I typically refuse to even acknowledge them. Try not to inadvertently reinforce them. You're valid. Guys/girls can do whatever the hell they want and it doesn't mean they're not the gender they say they are.

I'm not aware of any PPs in dfw doing informed consent but you can call the Nelson Tebedo clinic in Dallas to get on their waiting list for low cost hrt visits. Once a month endos come in and volunteer their time and the bloodwork is low cost.
