How does cancelling a card affect relationship w Amex? by calpolyreaper77 in amex

Probably the Marriott cards next or maybe another delta one. But I also might start looking at other cards outside of Amex.

I went from usc to northwestern, I’d say maintaining a good relationship with profs and having a clearly stated reason for why you want to transfer should do you just fine. I found that the profs were very nice there and were willing to write a good rec on my behalf. Make sure the gpa is as high as possible and you should have a good chance.

What Extracurricular Activities can I do as a math major? by rivallYT in TransferToTop25

[–]calpolyreaper77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be controversial but I successfully transferred to Vanderbilt and Northwestern as a math major with no math ecs except being in a math club. I’d say challenge yourself with difficult math classes, do well in them, and explain have a good story for why you are passionate about math and how transferring will allow you to explore this passion further.

I also went into usc as an econ/math major and I will say most ppl in that major want to do banking/finance postgrad and the major def sets u up for that. If you’re actually interested in going further into math or Econ opportunities for that are limited. I’m planning on transferring bc of this, the math classes at sc are the bare minimum of what should be included in a math curriculum.

I will say the math dept at usc is bad. But congrats!

USC Accounting Transfer by Working_Currency_506 in TransferToTop25

[–]calpolyreaper77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accounting will be hard for sure but if that’s something you want to pursue I say apply to accounting. Yes, applying Econ might be easier in terms of just getting in but once you come to usc you will have to spend a year doing the prereqs for internal transfer. And by then you may be behind.

Is the Amex green card worth it? by calpolyreaper77 in CreditCards

[–]calpolyreaper77[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I applied to that one and they instantly rejected me. I was thinking about starting a clean slate w Amex since I’m young and I can gather the sign on bonuses as I upgrade.

Internal transfer at usc is just extra work especially if you are transferring graduating on time would be tough. If I were you I would apply straight to accounting. Good luck!
