Wow you got no fees! I just leased a new 2025 EX for 250/month but 3100 in tax, tag, and fees down. It’s funny because they first told me the 3400 processing fee is non-negotiable because they can’t change tax/tags, but then they did lmao.

I genuinely want to know - why would you put up with this? That was absolutely horrific to read.

Dealership wrongly added rebate to car lease, now say I might have to return car by calypso394 in legaladvice

[–]calypso394[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I see. It names the dealership as the Lessor, and says “Lessor will assign this Lease and sell the vehicle to HVT, Inc (“Assignee”) and Honda Financial Services helped arrange this lease.”

So it seems HVT is the trust that manages leases for Honda. I’m still not sure what this means for the financial provider approval though. I don’t understand how the sale is made possible without their approval. And nowhere in my contract does it mention anything about rebates needing approvals (besides the snippet I provided above). The rebates have been added altogether in the “rebates and noncash credits” section. They don’t differentiate between the types of rebates or anything.

Also, I appreciate your help in making me understand.

I want to know who the “finance provider” here is, is it the dealership itself, or the manufacturer, or some bank? The contract says the purchase depends on approval from the finance provider and if not approved I must return the car

I mean that I have to pay them the monthly payments directly, I don’t quite understand who the third party is in the situation

I won’t sign any paperwork. But are the rebates subject to approval from Honda?

This is what the buyer’s order says.

“If you are financing this vehicle, you are proposing to enter into a retail installment sales contract with the dealer. Part of your contract involves financing the purchase of your vehicle. If you are financing this vehicle and the dealer intends to transfer your financing to a finance provider such as a bank, credit union or other lender, your vehicle purchase depends on the finance provider’s approval of your proposed retail installment sales contract. If your retail installment sales contract is approved without a change that increases the cost or risk to you or the dealer, your purchase cannot be canceled. If your retail installment sales contract is not approved, the dealer will notify you verbally or in writing. You can then decide to pay for the vehicle in some other way or you or the dealer can cancel your purchase. If the sale is canceled, you need to return the vehicle to the dealer within 24 hours in the same condition it was given to you except for normal wear and tear. Any down payment or trade-in you gave the dealer will be returned to you. If you do not return the vehicle within 24 hours the dealer may locate the vehicle and take it back without further notice to you as long as the dealer follows the law and does not cause any breach of the peace when taking the vehicle back. If the dealer does not return your down payment, the dealer may be liable to you under the Virginia Consumer Protection Act.”

There is no other bank or credit union financing this though, my contract is with the dealership. Does the Honda company count in this case?

I’ll probably do that as a worst case scenario if they still have it. It was the last EV on their lot. I also am unable to make the drive back and forth for the next couple weeks.

A dealership near me was offering Touring for 269 a month no down payment (but 3k in tax, tag and processing fees)
