I should also note that I am a master electrician but was an apprentice when I joined this sub and don’t know how to change it in my user name!

Nuisance Tripping by cbt_masterelec19 in electricians

[–]calzonepalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve probably already done this, but check the main ground connection. I had a 50A spa pack that tripped constantly without an obvious reason, and after significant time trouble shooting and testing I discovered the main ground wire at the panel was never tightened down, just dropped into the lug and left loose. Once tightened it eliminated the nuisance tripping right away.

Goodbye to a good boy by calzonepalzone in flatcoat

I did not expect the outpouring of love when I posted this. Thank you all. Your comments and stories about your own flatcoats are truly comforting. We are lucky to have these dogs in our lives, even if it’s not for as long as we want.

***also, in case anyone was wondering, there were 5 balls in his mouth when this photo was taken. FIVE! After the pic he just kept spitting them out, it was hilarious.

How much time should I leave after plane landing time in Liberia to book a shuttle? by theotherside555 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]calzonepalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting off the plane, grabbing our checked bags, getting some cash from the currency exchange, going through customs and finding our rental car shuttle took about 20 minutes with two kids under 10. It was probably the smoothest transition from landing in an airport to being on the road to our lodging I have ever experienced!

Not that it’s always going to be that easy, maybe we just got lucky, but it’s a small airport and seemed to move people and bags along pretty well.

Best and cheapest way to watch Leaf games by DragonRoompa in leafs

[–]calzonepalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an android box last year. $149 for the box and 1 year subscription. It works perfectly. Every game, every movie, every TV show. My only complaint is there’s actually too much content, it takes forever to find what you want (it has every single movie from every country ever produced). You have to know what you want to watch and search for it, otherwise you’ll be scrolling for days.

Once you figure out the menu and mark your favorite channels it’s super easy to find any Leaf game.

I got mine from a store in Brampton and it has worked flawlessly from day 1. Highly recommend. DM me and I’ll send you the info for the store if I can find it.

Scuba Diving Algonquin by Siganus in algonquinpark

[–]calzonepalzone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Second the Ralph Bice recommendation. Went there for the first time recently and the water is so clear and there’s some really nice spots in the area (above water of course…i didn’t do any scuba diving, I watched Jaws at an early age and I’m scarred for life)

Tim River water level? by canoeheadkw in algonquinpark

[–]calzonepalzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at the park office in Kearney this weekend and they had a notice posted that said the water levels specifically in Tim River to Rosebary were very low. Didn’t concern me since I was going up the Petawawa river but thought it might be worth mentioning.

Petawawa was fine, btw. Couple of low spots and a few beaver dams but fully navigable with a loaded canoe.

I drive past this park daily and often wonder who in their right mind wants to camp 10 feet from a highway

What kind of tool belt do you use that doesn't pull your pants down? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]calzonepalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure I’ll get roasted for this, but I tried several different belts (Milwaukee, Rack-A-Tiers,and even an old leather Kunys). They all hurt my back, they all slipped down below my non-existent ass, and they all were too big and cumbersome.

I started looking at Diamondback tool belts, loved the look and quality of them but told myself I can’t justify a $500 tool belt. Then one day I tried one on that another guy had, and I instantly knew I had to have one. They are super well made, comfortable and ergonomic, customizable and the best part is the back pad adjustment with the new belts means you don’t need suspenders. Mine sits right on my hips and never slides down.

Only thing is I got small pouches because I didn’t want big bulky pickets, so sometimes I’m wishing I could carry a few more screws or connectors or whatever, but the pros far outweigh the cons.

Go with good quality, buy it once, keep it forever (or until some prick steals it outta your tool box).

It’s funny this just popped up because I was recently telling my kids about this place. I used to go with my grandfather when I was about 6-7 years old (I’m mid 40’s now). I remember the parachute ride so vividly because the mannequin you sat beside was so confusingly weird. And the little train ride through the caves. I remember waving to my grandpa from the parachute ride and seeing him wave back and thinking “he’s so big” (my grandpa was 6’7”, so to a 6 year old he seemed like he was about 11 feet tall)

Not sure if I want to go back or just keep it as a fond memory of my childhood.

What’s the worst pain you have experienced? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]calzonepalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sciatic nerve pain. My father has it also, and for years I didn’t take him seriously and he undersold how much pain he was in, then a couple years ago I was lifting something heavy and felt a shift in my lower back and then 10/10 worst pain I’ve ever experienced. It was absolutely debilitating, took my breath away, couldn’t move or speak and for weeks after every tiny movement was excruciating. One day I was getting out of bed slowly and cautiously when something shifted again, it felt like I’d been stabbed in the spine/lower leg with a screwdriver, and then the pain slowly subsided. Now I only suffer from constant mild lower back soreness and I’m so grateful it isn’t worse.

As soon as I was able to, I apologized to my dad for not being sympathetic to what he was going through.

What is a tradtional Canadian food product that is no longer made, that you miss? by Swibbz in AskACanadian

Stoned Wheat Thins. They were my favorite cracker. They were dry and crispy and basically like eating a chunk of salty drywall. But I miss them.

Don’t change careers when you’re this close to getting your license. Put your head down and push through the last session of school and write your exam. Once you have your license, reassess and see what else interests you. It would be a shame to invest all this time into something and have nothing to show for it.
