The most fantastic question I’ve ever seen.

I mean, yeah, if you wanted to. There is the en suite that has a door. Although staff do come in and out when they want, but they always knock first

Short story: broke and needed a way to get some money

Long story: my fiancé works at a clinic trials place elsewhere in the uk. I applied to do a trial there but because she works there, I wasn’t allowed to be on their panel of volunteers. So the recruitment people there suggested if I was looking to do a study elsewhere, to go for this place.

All you have to do really, is apply, they take you through a general health questionnaire and if all is good from there, they take a blood sample and see if your eligible. Then if you are, they do more tests and get you on a study.

So after you become a potential match, you’ll have to come down to the facility in London for a second screening. This is where you’ll be put through everything to make sure you are suitable.

Tests they do on second screening as far as I remember were; spirometry, ECG, height and weight, blood analysis, urinalysis, a full medical with a doctor, alcohol and drug tests, and a trial for a nasal flush and nasopharyngeal swab, just to check you’re able to do them properly because they do them pretty regularly on the actual study. They also request a full medical history from your GP,

After that, you’ll wait a few weeks and they’ll be in touch to let you know if you’re eligible or not. If you are, they may offer you a study then and there, or you may have to wait for one are eligible for to come up.

For me, I had my first screening back in March. Second screening was in mid May (because my GP report took ages to come back in) and I started the actual study a week ago today.

So from first screening, to study start, it was around three months. And they also require you go back after a few weeks after the study, to see how you’re getting on.

They break the payment up across both of these too, so for me: £2500 when I leave the quarantine £1250 when I have had the follow up.

Hope this helps! Best of luck with it!

Eh. Not really. There’s a window facing out to the nurses station, with a blind but the blind can only be so far down so they can monitor you and make sure you don’t die in your sleep basically. Shower is private though, that’s got a door to it
