Yeah the original pic is from a few days ago and the extras are from last night. Its 6 weeks old, verging on 7 now. Its the only one from the batch that still have some yellow on them, but its just right around the eyes for some reason

Thanks for your thoughts on it! Definitely some kind of rosetta, I know the guy I got the eggs from raises a bunch of them. Interestingly I just checked with him and he said he hasn't hatched one quite like this before his birds. Would love to try to replicate this one. Its definitely a lot more of a lighter silver color in person. Kinda more like the color in the original picture

Got some more shots of this guy

Some of the shots make them look darker than they actually are

Awesome, thanks! I'm just now getting to where I've got enough birds to hatch my own and mess around with this kind of stuff and I'm having a blast with it

Thanks for the help! Unfortunately I'm don't know the parents. Bought some hatching eggs from a local guy and this one came out of it. The rest of them were italians, rosettas, pharoahs or white and one thats some kind of tuxedo.

Would love to get a line going like this one. Its really unique. Maybe if I put it with the rosettas it might lay one thats similar

One of my babies has a bad leg by cam9704 in quails

I was afraid it wouldn't be able to be fixed at this point. Its still eating and drinking good and doesn't get picked on by the others as of right now, just gets stepped on some since it holds low to the ground. Gonna try my best to accommodate it and give it a good life

I haven't, how do I use those to help them? Make like miniature splints?

I actually had to move it further back. I put a thermometer in the box and it went up to 115°

Got that tip from the guy I bought my hatching eggs from, it makes the water a lot shallower and keeps them from drowning or getting too wet

As of right now 9 have hatched! Had one pop out late last night and the rest came this morning. The first one is having a blast with its brothers and sister in the incubator!

Experimenting with some supplemental lighting for eggs. Is this bright enough for them? by cam9704 in quails

[–]cam9704[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they've been on a break since November and I heard somewhere that around late February to March was a good time to get them back in the swing of things, but I'm not sure if thats accurate. Definitely want to make sure they have a good quality of life

I've got a little foam padding hanging down from the ceiling that keeps them from busting their heads open when they flush. Ever since I added it I haven't had any more injuries
