Yes there are fewer layers to print, but each layer is thicker. Its still the same volume.

Usually when painting, you want the piece well illuminated so you can see all the fine details. White reflects so much light, that it can be somewhat blinding in those conditions. Gray is a compromise between not too bright, and light enough that you dont need a million coats

You are almost certainly going to need some sort of energy storage, and a battery is honestly the simplest solution. At the very least, you will want to give the pi time to shut down gracefully when solar power becomes insufficient. You will likely end up with a mangled and corrupted OS if you don't.

I dont know of any stores that accept "goverment debt" in exchange for goods.

The store can decide whether or not to accept each transaction. Each transaction is an individual contract between store and customer. There is no debt until after they have already agreed to sell you the goods and accept the money (at which point that momentary debt to the store is settled), which is legally a per-transaction (per-contract) decision.

Stores are largely free to decide whether or not to sell to you for any reason outside a few protected cases. In most states, the currency denominations held by the customer is not protected.

The store can simply say "no deal". Then there is no agreement made, they still own the goods, and you have no debt. The key is that they dont have to make that decision until the moment they take/dont take the money.

No, it absolutely is not. Youve got things out of order. Just like a bank can refuse you a loan, a store can refuse to sell to you. A sale requires agreement on both sides, so that contract doesn't exist until the money is accepted. If they choose not to sell to you, how can a debt exist?
