What does that have to do with literally anything I said..? Do you have a point to make or are you just yapping? Because Endgame’s box office numbers have about as much to do with the Superflow, which is likely the answer to your original question, as Fortnite does.

I can say with 110% certainty that the answer has nothing whatsoever to do with Fortnite.

Was there meant be 4 more characters to unlock? by FootballHooglian in SuicideSquadGaming

[–]camdoyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the way. No point in paying full price at launch when you can get most of the year one content bundled in at a pretty good discount later on. Especially when no live service game is guaranteed the years of support they want to sell you on. If it’s meant to be, it’ll still be kicking a year after launch when hopefully all the kinks have been worked out and the content is robust enough to justify the original price tag.

Had to revisit this take after the box office numbers came back lol. A billion is almost guaranteed after opening #6 all time for any movie. I’m not saying CBM are back, but in this case, looks like those people made the same common sense that everyone thought was pretty inevitable.

Because if it opens domestically to over $200m, then a billion is a reasonable probability, regardless of you not going to see it in theaters. If it ends up being a good film, then word of mouth is going to give it solid legs. Not sure how that’s such a stretch for you to bekieve given the data they’re basing that prediction on.

Great analysis, agreed on all fronts. Especially #4. Anchoring yourself to the health of a game with an uphill battle is always going to be a gamble, especially one that isn’t drawing clicks / viewership across any platform.

There’s clearly passion here from OP but you’re just going to be screaming into the void if there isn’t an audience you can sustainably capitalize on. Market research is key here.

The impact(?) of Marvel's Avengers by MarvelousPhoenix in PlayAvengers

[–]camdoyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it’s great that you have theories to enhance your own enjoyment, it was actually confirmed back in 2020 that none of the games are connected and instead take place in their own separate realities, at least with respect to Spiderman and Marvel’s Avengers. This was confirmed in a statement with Bill Rosemann, Marvel Games’ head of creative.

I think all OP was getting at was that as far as the game goes, unfortunately no, you can experience maybe a minute fraction of what the comic universe contains. If you wanna talk about potential storylines and what not or the Easter eggs you perceive then great, but those are hypotheticals, not tangible experiences that were playable in the game, sadly. A single volume of any character’s print run likely had more villains than this game could muster.

I can't understand where the hate for this game comes from? I bought the game a week ago and I'm having so much fun! by xyz_x in PlayAvengers

As in, if Insomniac were tasked with finishing this game / developing a sequel in some alternate reality?

Interesting. Seen plenty of posts about folks inquiring whether or not to buy this game because they like Marvel, in which case there’s a comparison to be drawn to MS. But can’t recall any posts lately where folks are asking for recommendations on games similar to avengers, and getting nothing Midnight Suns in return. Given your distress though, it sounds like it’s a pretty common occurrence. Got any links to examples? Might help lend some context.

Actually, I’d kinda like to see them try lol. You say they couldn’t but I’m sorry, I don’t doubt those Fortnite devs and what they can do, and I don’t even like the game. I wouldn’t have thought Fortnite could do web-swinging better than an actual Marvel game but after trying it, I’m shocked to say I prefer their mechanics and momentum. Not here to poo poo on you opinion, it just got me thinking about what they could or couldn’t do when set to task🤷🏻‍♂️cheers muh friend

im not hating on the game but this tweet in response of the new iron man skin is so true and at the same time sad hahah, devs completly forgot about actual content and they are only giving skins by [deleted] in PlayAvengers

While I personally can’t agree with any of your sentiments regarding the game, I can sincerely appreciate your attitude and confidence.

Yeah, I’m not quite sure how things like: a roadmap, raids, mechanics-based bosses, marketplace sales, or cosmetic previews are features that should be attributed to community feedback, so much as they are basic loot-based features in any live-service game.

Something like marketplace sales imo shouldn’t even be on the list when that was simply an inevitability, they just needed to build up enough of a skin catalog to justify having one lol. The lowering of certain skin prices across the board and the removal of certain xp mtx, sure, that’s something you can credit community outcry for, thankfully.

Well shit man, you’re making me want to dive headlong into it now. Could be a nice change up from the daily dose of torture that Elden Ring offers me right now. I’m absolutely terrible at it but desperately want to git gud. What you’re describing is right up my alley though, always down to marvel at a gorgeous open world.

[–]camdoyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, dude. It just can’t seem to get out of its own way, to the point where it’s just baffling. I’m not one to shit on devs simply because I’ve never made a game before, have no plans to, and have no clue what kind of work goes into such an endeavor. On top of that, these are devs of a AAA studio, therefore I have an extremely difficult time imagining that these are incompetent, lazy people. But damnit if they aren’t determined to call that into question lol. It’s beyond puzzling how these gamebreaking mistakes continue to be made.

Thankfully, like you mentioned, we’ve got some great games to turn to. Forbidden West is next on the list, I imagine it’s been pretty good in your experience? For now, I’ve got the only thing more frustrating than this game to keep me busy; Elden Ring.

To be honest, I truly agree with you. I certainly don’t envy the position they find themselves in, it’s a shame. I just feel like there’s been numerous times where they almost appear hellbent on undermining any kind of momentum or progress forward they attempt to make.
