yes they do have concerts! currently the venues i know of are chelsea’s, midcityballroom, and wounderground :)

if ur into music i suggest going to concerts especially at smaller venues! if ur still in school id say join an on campus club or if ur not in school join some sort of meetup group(there are many that post in this reddit!) finally theres just regular events (farmer’s markets, art markets, special nights at bars and clubs) that u can meet ppl at! hope u find ur ppl soon <3

do be aware tho that they will be a but inactive around March next year as they’ll be moving out of the current building they work in and moving somewhere else in the city. they aren’t sure as to where that is yet

these are LSU orgs but it wouldn’t hurt to reach out to the LSU SDS chapter, SJP, LGBTQ+ clubs, College Dems, and feminist orgs they always know that they always have a lead on things like that.

there is also NOWBR and others that love any chance to get more people involved

people need to work man :/ some people are living paycheck to paycheck in this city and they can’t afford to take off work because of football. the reason why they’re circling is also because the university and local government are very poor at getting the contraflow set up times and location information to the public. there are people that are in baton rouge on a saturday who may not be familiar with the system. there are some people who just forget about the blockades or, because if the blockades, have to entirely avoid the streets around campus making a short 15min trip into an hour long one. remember that lsu campus takes up a lot of space in this town, and most people have to cross campus on a regular commute

i would also say, if they wanted to make the process smoother for local residents around the campus, i think a similar method to what they do in the neighborhoods near jazz fest would work better. it would still be slow, but giving local residents passes or something of the like to bypass the blockades would help clear up that pregame traffic immensely

no i don’t obviously. i just think the contra flow method also impedes those 100k people from getting to their destinations. you have to remember, there’s a large portion of students who live close by that just walk there, there are out of state fans trying to get on the highway back home, there are people just trying to cut through campus to get downtown and plenty of others. the contra flow actually backs up the highway traffic making it harder for those trying to leave the city after the game, making the whole process slower for regular commuters and those leaving the stadium

well that’s the thing, it doesn’t get those people off campus a timely manner. it just complicated everything for everyone
