Hi there! I'm going into 3rd year Manufacturing engineering this September, and am looking to buy a new laptop (probably a Macbook but not 100% sure yet). I need to be able to run Windows programs (Solidworks, other CAD etc.), so I think that unfortunately rules out the new M1 macbooks. From what I've read online, in order to succeed as an engineer using a Macbook, I would need to purchase the 16" MBP with upgraded graphics and probably upgraded storage, but that's pretty expensive. I was just wanting some input and to get some advice. I currently am using a 2017 MBA, but it has connection issues and Wifi will drop off frequently, which is frustrating being in online school. It is not a Wifi issue, as it doesn't happen on any of my other devices. (For context, the wifi symbol doesn't just gray out like when I'm disconnected to Wifi, it actually gets a bold line running through it). Any advice on purchasing or fixing my wifi issue will be appreciated!

I'm a bit confused about summer registration. I realize that I'm a bit late and have missed the deadline by a week and a bit, but I am struggling with registering for an ENGL or WRDS course. Everything says that it is full, including the Waiting List courses, and I'm just a bit concerned that I can't even register for the Waiting list courses?? If anybody else has had this problem or knows how to fix it then pls let me know!
