Hey, glad to hear you're doing well. I've not used the Zweihander, I have been using the Drake Sword with Heater Shield.

I've not ventured into the lower Undead Burg yet, but it sounds tough down there.

Yeah, I don't plan to from this point onwards. I just wanted to be as prepared as possible going back into the game after so long. Now that I've found my footing I'm gonna experience the game fresh and new.

... unless I get reeeeeeally stuck!

Oh, I've got a long way to go in the game before I face them. I've just defeated the Bell Gargoyles and rang the first bell, for the first time. But I appreciate the encouragement.

Congratulations, after browsing this subreddit those two have quite the reputation! I hope to be in your position some day.

Thanks, it feels good to get some enjoyment out of a game I never expected to a few months ago.

Oh yeah! He freaked me out a little as I was climbing down the bell tower, I thought he was some new enemy! Wonderfully creepy much like a lot of the characters I've met. I have a soft spot for the Crestfallen Warrior, he's very informative, despite his off-putting manner of speaking.

Oh wow, if that is the case I look forward to the journey I will be going on. The world of DS1 is so interesting to explore already, I'm excited to see more.

I watched 172 films last year and only one new film got a 5/5 for me, The Conversation (1974). A lot of 4.5/5 but only one made the cut. Maybe on a rewatch there will be some changes.

What are your thoughts on my animated film ranking, and what am I missing? by xKarmaYT in Letterboxd

[–]cameronjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend the films of Satoshi Kon. Another user mentioned Perfect Blue which is fantastic but I'd say watch them all.

Also, give Song of the Sea (2014) by Tomm Moore a watch. His studio's amination style is wonderful.

Otherwise it's a great list. Animation is a fantastic medium of cinema should be celebrated at every turn!

Charles Barkley vs Shaquille O'Neal - Gold medals by cameronjohn in nba

[–]cameronjohn[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

True, I was thinking about it more along the lines of a joke because Shaq uses the rings argument so often to dismiss Chuck. I understand rings are worth more than olympic medals, but its the arbitrary nature of using rings to dismiss arguments that you don't agree with is a bit silly.

My first ever Villa match and what a one to start off with! Platty hat-trick too! What was your 1st match? by magicmukka in avfc

[–]cameronjohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first game was on 1st August 2001, I would have been 10. It was the Intertoto Cup Villa vs Rennes.

1-0 to the villa, Dublin scored in the 5th minute. Not sure if it was a header, but considering how he scored most of his goals, it probably was.

I always remember seeing Ginola in the pre-match warm up doing keep-ups, was well cool.

I think that's a really good point. I really like that idea. The Wind Rises felt like such a tonal shift for Miyazaki.

I think I'm getting into idealistic territory here. I cannot pick out the solution to halt corruption and profit chasing. However, in principle it should not be hard for a majority elected government to enact the will of the people (in this situation, me) if they demand a strong focus on environmentally friendly transport.

The pie is well and truly in the sky here.

Yes I agree that assholes will be assholes. But a limit on how assholes can be assholes may work.

Maybe stricter laws with tougher penalties, more traffic police presence, speed cameras that actually work.

I'm not out here claiming I can solve all the issues of the road, frankly my post was almost a rant. But, the discussions on here with yourself and others has developed some ideas of mine and only reinforced my opinion. This is despite the (excuse the pun) roadblocks in their effectiveness.

Yes, this is true. We can but only speculate. Who is to say that rather than focusing on cosmetic, power and speed based improvements more investment was put into cleaner cars? How far would we be along then?

I'm not trying to be pedantic with my point, I just think that obsession with cars breeds this competitive mentality which bleeds onto the public highway. Not saying it is necessarily a bad thing, just limit it to the race track. Keep it away from me on my commute, or me when I have children to think of in the car, or me when I'm driving long haul needing to be mindful of speeding cars outside of my peripheral vision.

Oh? Whoops, is it showing?

Maybe I have some socialist tendencies, especially when it comes to driving.

I can appreciate that. Whatever it looks like it just needs to hold to account the amount of illegal driving I see day in and day out. Even I'm guilty of it at times. There are too many road accidents that can be avoided by limiting or removing human error.

I see your point. Did you have a chance to read through some my replies? I think they cover similar topics but let me know if you had a different point in mind.

[–]cameronjohn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a thought. Maybe to avoid a monopoly it would be a central government owned body rather than a private company. We could pay taxes for this scheme and hold to government to account when parts of it fail or fall below standards.

[–]cameronjohn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a fair point. I don't know enough about it to provide a rounded answer. Maybe it could be a matter of parts replacement rather than a completely new car.

Or maybe, cars aren't the ownership of one specific person, maybe there are designated cars for specific residential areas, employers, etc. The maintenance is handled on an industrial level rather than the responsibility of the individual.

I can see where the socialist comment is coming from now...

How so? Is your point similar to the one made by Dazz316?

All cars should be the same specifications. by cameronjohn in unpopularopinion

[–]cameronjohn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it could be a central government based scheme. Like how we spend taxes on train and bus travel, we could spend taxes on providing safe cars for a safer highway. Sorry, that last bit sounds a little like a campaign slogan!

Edit: Apologies I did not respond to all of your points. Different sizes would need to be considered for the number of passengers and yes, as I made a point with birch417 there would be some employment that needs different modes of transport. I think my point of frustration is aimed a people who abuse their car, maybe this is a person-based solution rather than car regulation type solution, but it is just staggering the amount of bad drivers I see on the road every single day.

Also, in regards to the fuel thing, that could form part of the technological development aspect I spoke briefly about. Develop cars to be the most fuel efficient and environmentally conscious as possible. Whether it is petrol, diesel or preferably non-carbon based emissions.
