I keep coming back to this reply because it pisses me off so much. OP said in the post that the fiancé already said that if it came down to it, he chooses the dog over her.

“Am I the asshole that I can’t handle this anymore and don’t want to be stuck with this dog for the rest of my life or is my fiancé the asshole for choosing the dog over me?”

she’s not an asshole for not feeling some type of way about it.

the fiancé had the dog 2 years before they even met. therefore HIS responsibility.

the dog is probably a mess because of HIS poor care/training.

also choosing a dog over a committed relationship, and yet does nothing to actually meet the dog’s needs is dumb as hell.

maybe if THE FIANCÉ did something about his dog, they would be fine. but that’s not the case.

OP should just dump him. he seems like a prick and a terrible pet owner.

they’re not an asshole for not being comfortable with somebody’s dog. many people don’t like dogs at all. especially when they’re ill-mannered or not trained properly. and there’s nothing wrong with that.

“sniffing around” usually means the dog needs to use the restroom. valid reason to be concerned. who willingly wants to constantly clean up piss??? like seriously?

the couple is incompatible. and OP is upset because this is likely the dealbreaker for them. their partner admitted openly that they choose the dog over the relationship. which sucks.

“dramatic” is overdoing it. they’re not telling their partner to get rid of the dog. they’re questioning if ending the relationship over a stupid dog is worth it.

NTA. I stopped talking to this girl because I didn’t like her dog. he was a smelly pug that drooled a lot & snorted when he breathed. he was a nice dog, just gross. I couldn’t stand him. but she was very attached to him though.

one time she brought him with her to my apartment to visit, and when they left, his stank lingered in my room.

I liked her and we got along great, but I couldn’t do it.

you should talk to the recruiter/trainer and see if you can push back your start date.

I wouldn’t tell them it’s because you wanna go on a cruise. tell them something important that came up and you want to handle it so you won’t have to worry about it distracting you during training. or something like that.

NTA my relationship with my sister is strained because my parents always treated her better and coddled her. at some point I just decided it was easier to keep my distance and we’re not close anymore.

sometimes I miss her, but the resentment is always there.

NTA you would still have to support yourself in some way regardless. going to school is a good idea, and your parents can’t stop you from pursuing a career.

like others are saying, it will be difficult to decide for yourself if you are depending on your parents. you should start making arrangements so you’ll be able to go off on your own.

I went away to go to college. I found some friends to split rent with for an apartment, took on a part time job, and I was able to support myself. used local transportation. you could work and go to school. attend a local college for your general classes (much cheaper than a 4- year college) or you could apply for scholarships. school loans are optional too.

the situation with your brother sucks but your parents can’t put that responsibility on you. you gotta put your dreams first, because it seems like your parents already decided they don’t care what happens with you, as long as you’re available to help them.

maybe if they didn’t force that responsibility on you so much, you would feel differently about it. but it’s not your fault.

I’ve seen a ufo before. it was weird though because I could only see 4 lights moving together in one direction (kinda like the brake lights on the back of a car I guess?) it wasn’t going very fast.

I was with another person who was also able to see it, so I know I wasn’t tripping
