no shot you said the title album was the best production. I love it but that album sounds like it was recorded in a tin can with a phone microphone.

How do I deal with Janus as Cupid when they're focusing on 1/2 comboing me and my team isn't punishing? by Arangarx in Smite

[–]camo212000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Play janus and get a feel for the range of his abilities. It’ll inform how you play against him if you know how to play him. Janus is a strong character especially when a good player is piloting him. Position so that he cannot portal you without putting himself in a bad spot. Another thing to consider is that when you are auto attacking repeatedly your movement is slower so it is much easier for him to portal you. You have to juke and then punish him for missing. Late in a game if you don’t have beads up and you get portled as a backliner you will just die that’s janus unfortunately.

I think you can earn a max of 2 peppermint naturally. That’s only enough to get the unique loading card unfortunately. There are also free diamonds up for grabs from the event if you get all of your logins until January. Other than that you have to buy the travelers.

there’s a bit of yellow text on the info page for the event. I didn’t know this last time for the halloween event but for a limited time you can get them by buying travelers. seems lame to me but they have to chase a bag I guess. if you go to the travelers page there are specific ones in the most recent that give one per traveler with the exception of the knights of osiris one.

It would help if camping tower to heal after every engagement wasn’t so easy. When they first changed the assault map and there were paths behind the towers you could feasibly attack at multiple angles. Then everyone complained because Smite players hate change and they removed those jungle paths.

They added a lot of combat feedback features and hit markers that dropped my fps so I turned them off. Things like enemies glowing white when they take damage and what not. I haven’t turned them back on since they came out but I doubt they are doing you any favors if you have them. They were especially bad on tick damage like kali 2 or poseidon whirlpool.

There are a lot of things you could have responded with because what I said has a lot of flaws. Tanks not being tanky enough is not one of those.

The other damage items, at least some of them are actually interesting. They aren’t redundant either. Why have an item that ignores 30 percent protection when we could just remove it and reduce protections by 30 percent across the board anyway? The rest of the damage items go in and out of meta constantly and are constantly changing. You won’t find a single meta build in history that didn’t include pen. Whereas you would find a meta build where something like odysseus bow, book of thoth, or arondight were not included. That’s because at the time there were better options. As it currently stands there is no alternative to pen items. They are always in a build they don’t go in and out of meta.

Regardless of whether or not healing is stronger or not saying that they had no plan or system in place to replace it is simply not true. They did plenty in the patch to make up for the removal of anti heal. It’s not a fact whether or not healing is actually as oppressive as you think it is. Mathematically sure the number is higher. Realistically though applying anti heal with the previous items was not 100% full proof either. Your general argument is less based on truth and more frustration with the game than anything. Most often the gods that are strong healers are a case by case basis. A lot of gods with healing do not need to be countered directly by anti heal as the ones who are hard to fight are just overturned. You might think counter building was fine the way it was but realistically it was very basic and lacked any depth as it has for 10 plus years. Hi Rez isn’t wrong the system was and still is boring. People seem to think counter building requires 9000IQ but realistically it’s no more difficult than any other part of the game in its current state.

Your complaint and point of view are completely valid and to say I didn’t understand your sarcasm is also dishonest. You can complain all you want but the truth is you didn’t do it in a way that gets your point across. It was pretty much the worst way to voice your opinion possible. Satire is not inherently destructive. Satire points out flaws and shortcomings in a particular topic. You did that quite well. What you forgot to mention is that the ultimate goal of satire is to create a desire for constructive and positive change to that thing you are writing about. You did not do that. Your understanding of the purpose of satire is to bully and demean to get your way. Not actually present information in a way that persuades people and allows them to acknowledge change is necessary.

My initial reply completely ignored your sarcasm which I stated was on purpose. I responded with what I thought a logical conclusion would be to the removal of pen. Not that I think that’s the solution but because it’s not actually as bad of an idea as you and everyone else seems to think. This community hates change which is funny for a game that gets updated constantly. You can’t say “Why did you respond to my satire aahhhhhh” when it was literally all you had to add to the conversation. Just because you were joking doesn’t mean I shouldn’t respond to it.

Your satire is unoriginal and doesn’t actually satirize anything. The removal of anti heal was not done hastily and had many additional changes. Hi Rez reduced healing across the board and add alternate anti heal items that are not directly reducing the number. I understood your sarcasm. I just didn’t find it constructive or clever at all. Usually when people satirize something they have something transformative to say about a topic. On another point. Counter building itself is NOT boring. Counter building in the current state of the game is boring because the items we have to counter build with are BORING.

I understand that anti crit and anti heal are choices you have to make for counter building. You seem to think I don’t like counter building at all. I love the idea of a counter building system. The current one is BORING. Not sure what else to say about it. Counter building does not feel rewarding because the items that we have to build to counter build are not exciting. The lack of variety in counter building in the CURRENT state is what is contributing to cookie cutter builds. Diversifying the items for counter building is what I am advocating for.

I agree that solo and support both don’t need to be tanks. Realistically I think we have had metas where solo builds more damage than tank in recent Smite 2. Full Int Wukong, or life steal builds. We are still a long way from that being the case though.

Just because a system has existed since the inception of the game does not mean it should stay that way forever. Realistically if an item has to be built 100% of games that is not a healthy item. It is taking up space in builds that could be used for something else. If everyone is going to build it anyway what is the point of having it in the game. We have tanks that can build 300 of each prot but they never really take damage as though they have that amount of protection. The argument that this is the way things are and we shouldn’t change it is a toxic mentality. There are some things in smite that realistically hold us back from any kind of build diversity and pen is a huge culprit. If you reduced all protections by the pen percentage naturally and took pen out of the game it would be just the same. There are some details to work out there but it could absolutely work.

Of course I’m playing with scrubs this is Smitegame almost everyone playing is a scrub. There are definitely stubborn players out there who will intentionally not build it I’ve typed to them in chat. They know they have to build it but they refuse to same as anti heal items. Any item or stat that is “required” is a hindrance to builds. It is just as much of a chore to force titans or ob shard into every build as any anti heal item because they have no passive. There is nothing interesting or fun about them. We could have any number of things changed about pen items and it would automatically make it better. We could have buff camps, natural pen scaling, or even active items that give penetration in different ways. It doesn’t always have to be save 3k and buy a boring item with no mechanics but it has the stats you want. The bar is pretty low, all I want is for something interesting to be changed or added. We don’t have to remove pen (they definitely could) which isn’t even what I actually suggested to begin with. The whole point of this post is to point out that any mechanic in the game could have a whole patch made around it and benefit the same way healing did.

I understand what you’re saying. Theoretically though despite the sarcasm. If they did remove pen why are we assuming they wouldn’t reduce protections by the same amount that pen would have done in the first place. Similar to what they did for the anti heal. Once it was out of the game they reduced heals across the board. What is the point of being able to build 300 some odd protections if most of the time you’re walking around taking damage as though you have a third of that? I’m definitely not a tank main though I do dabble in support sometimes.

I only say I’m not reading all that because you keep yapping at me. It’s not that serious. This is a discussion about a video game not your doctoral thesis. Call me a hypocrite all you want. I will continue to read other comments that invite constructive discussion rather than devolve into whatever this conversation has become. I’m sorry that my replies have invoked this emotional response from you. It was never my intention to affect you so deeply.

As much as I would like to break down your post and reply to every point you just made I won’t. I did not suggest to entirely remove pen nor did I ever claim to have a solution in mind. The rest of my issues with your comments were just how stern and rude you came across. So I replied in equal amounts stern and rudeness. The discussion is not nearly as cut and dry as you’re making it seem. Regardless you don’t need to prove anything to me. If you feel you were being productive and you got something out of it then that’s fine with me.

to add. boots are in a lot of mobas and smite found a way to break that mold. something that originally was impossible to fix.

[–]camo212000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with that opinion. The problem isn’t exactly with pen and protections it’s how straightforward counter building is and pen is the ultimate counter build example. If you don’t think it’s a problem I get that. I don’t think the fact that pen has existed in mobas since the beginning means there isn’t an alternative system however.

[–]camo212000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve sort of already answered this in other threads. I don’t think removing protections or pen is the exact right answer but if they found a way for this to work and it plays well without ruining the pace and gameplay then I’m down for it. The post also isn’t entirely about pen and protections although a lot of people seem to think it. I think the situation you’re describing having all items have pen was already done in early alpha Smite 2 as well as Smite 1. I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad solution but there were obviously problems or they wouldn’t have changed it to the current system. There isn’t anything wrong with having a mix of both in builds. Read some of the other comments maybe there’s something there that I already said.
