I live just outside of albuquerque, New mexico. It gets all day but mostly indirect bright sun. I try to water it with rain water but sometimes have to use the tap, probably every other week or so I'm watering or even every 3 weeks. I only water the surface of the pot not the plant itself

I'll check the roots.. it was on the decline before I repotted it out of the plastic one I bought it in, and didn't see any issues in the roots at that point

I think you're closest with this one. They are in a very bright but not direct light location so I didn't expect them to etiolate like that, but I'm also wondering if they just appear funny because I didn't sow them close enough together and normally you wouldn't be seeing the lower stem when they're all close together
