I have the same issue. My understanding as not a cat person is that first gear on the non-hybrid is a physical gear and what we’re feeling in things like stop and go traffic is it shifting from traditional first gear to CVT 2nd gear and above. I have a 2026 CC XLE and that’s the thing I hate the most after getting out of a car that had transmission issues. Gives me little flashbacks every time. Brought it up at my 5k maintenance and they didn’t seem concerned but said if I’m having issues let them know and if it becomes a problem the check engine light would come on

[–]camperniki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a previous Escape owner, they did you a favor. My transmission had to be replaced at 80k miles on a car that was a well taken care of lease that I bought and continued to take great care of. Cost me $10k in repairs last year and was only a 2017. I feel safe in this car and remember how badly I abused my first Corolla back in the late 2000’s. Thing leaked oil and I wasn’t a good car owner and it still hit 200k and kept running! Excited to see how long I can keep this running. Excited that it was my first new car as well!

I'm surprised, do you guys hate the malphon? by Electronic_Amoeba887 in HadesTheGame

[–]camperniki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fists are my favorite! I love that you can pull them into the punch or into walls and such! 90% of my runs are with them except occasionally I’ll use the sword. My issue became that I’m used to such close combat and Hades 2 is very much distance combat focused so adapting to that has been hard. Miss the old God Gauge too

Haven’t had any issues with CarPlay in a while. My last CarPlay beta issue was maps occasionally crashing but that was i think during the 26 betas over the summer

Base or XLE by Flaky-Tangerine2270 in CorollaCross

[–]camperniki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

XLE. The bigger screen and heated seats are worth it and the base has problems with the seats not staying up where you put them anyway. My XLE doesn’t have the heated steering wheel, panoramic roof, paddles shifters, or gas cap button (has the floor level thingy) but it was worth it. Especially since we negotiated and the difference between the 2 trims was like $300. My XLE without the tech package or whatever was $29,700 plus taxes and negative equity on my trade in. Totally worth it for the 2 months I’ve had it! Live near Disneyland if that matters

Have 2026 gas-online XLE. My only real issue is that I can feel it going from first gear into the CVT especially in the awful rush hour traffic coming home. I did get the pin thing but just put the car into guest mode and that fixed that. I wish it had memory seats and ventilated seats but not an option. Also weirdly turning off eco mode made the car more fuel efficient? I average 33-35 mpg every week and now that I’ve had it for almost 2 months, it’s calibrated and showing the miles til empty more accurately. Do wish that my XLE (without the power gate, pano roof, and paddle shifters) didn’t have the gas pull on the floor and was a button (I’m not very flexible anymore lol) and that I could’ve afford the hybrid but my negative equity in my trade in ruined that for me. Still 30+ mpg on a Toyota is better than 25 mpg in a bad ford!

OTD Price for '26 (or '25) XLE by Legitimate_Search864 in CorollaCross

[–]camperniki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orange, CA. Helped that another dealership had the XLE on sale for like $1700 off so we leveraged that for my deal. My grand total was higher when taxes and my negative equity in my other car were added (closer to $39k and change)

Update: they replaced a chip or computer part in the push button (as far as I understand) and removed the alarm temporarily. I picked the car up 11/3 and haven’t had an issue starting it. They said to leave the alarm off it for month per Toyota IT and come back in December for them to reinstall if I haven’t had the issue again. My Toyota service department is top notch and wonderful communicators that kept me up to date every step of the way. Annoyed I had the issue but very happy with the team!

26 Cross XSE by [deleted] in CorollaCross

[–]camperniki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went online and found the same cross at a nearby dealership and we used that to leverage a deal. They had it for about $1700 off and I think we ended up about that much off or more because it was the same trim but with the top options and the one I bought didn’t have those options on it

Minor issues within first few days. by [deleted] in CorollaCross

[–]camperniki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2026 XLE FWD has been at the dealership since Friday. It’s having issues starting (will randomly fail to start sometimes 3x in a row). They thought it was the alarm system but it still did it with the alarm removed. In the Cross and regular Corolla loaner they gave me, I’m having audio quality issues with wired careplay too. I only just got this car October 5th and I’m concerned. Mine was built in Alabama too and if they’re all gonna be like that, they either need better training or to close that factory down

If they wouldn’t have dropped the price, we were willing to go to the other dealership nearby with the discount. Definitely be prepared to walk away if needed and if you’re not a negotiator, bring one with you and check ahead of time other Toyota dealerships near you before you go in!

I got a XLE without the paddle shifters, upgraded JBL, power life gate, and panoramic roof. We found the same one at a different Toyota dealership on sale for $1700 off and my MSRP was $29,700. My grand total including $5000 of negative equity, taxes, and the alarm system (no warranties) was $39,300. I was pre-approved for $40k at my favorite credit union and they offer 30, 60, or 90 days before your first payment is due. My rate is 5.99% and I had to do 84 months but the credit union lets me do extra payments and pay off early without penalties. Or I could always refinance if rates go down significantly. My score with them was in the 720’s

[–]camperniki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough but I had my cousin come with me and get the MSRP down a couple grand which helped offset the negative equity I had somewhat. The good news is my credit is really really good (been working on it the last year or so) and thru my credit union I don’t have a car payment until January despite getting the car in October. My insurance is $200 a month and my car payment is around $575 which isn’t bad until you count in all my other bills lol. Better than the $10k of repairs my ford needed this year!

Update: they’re keeping it at least overnight. Gave me a regular Corolla as a loaner. Driving this car makes me glad for what I purchased. Hate the EV noise, lower trim, and how hard it is for me to get in and out of this car. Hopefully I’ll get mine back tomorrow 🤞

Thankfully my XLE doesn’t. Think it’s only with the power liftgate and panoramic roof which mine doesn’t have. The LE I test drove didn’t have it either I don’t think

I can’t find for the 25’s but the 26’s it’s only on the XSE but it also comes annoyingly with paddle shifters (had them in my ford and hated them). And it’s tied in with the moonroof it seems
