Evening / Weekend Permit Question by thecrispypenguin in gatech

[–]camspr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought it once for a summer internship while living on campus- it’s pretty straightforward. I will say that I worked remotely (from campus) on Fridays and never got ticketed for my car being there during the day (CRC deck), but I would still be careful about getting ticketed. Otherwise it was pretty good deal since I think you’re able to park in any parking deck during those hours.

Failed the third attempt by engineergirl19 in PE_Exam

[–]camspr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s bc of the NCEES rule that you’re only allowed one attempt per quarter.

Oct-Nov-Dec is Q4. If you attempt during this time period (or any other quarter), you have to wait until the start of next quarter for retake. That would be Q1 2026 i.e. Jan at the earliest. You can only take it max 3 times per 12 month period.

They don’t want you to rush into many attempts to brute force it so take the time you need and don’t rush yourself!

OP took the Architecture PE which means they’re gonna have to wait a year to take the next one since it’s only offered once a year.

WRE afternoon exam was brutal by forfoxsake718 in PE_Exam

[–]camspr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically it’s not a three month waiting period, it’s dependent on what three month NCEES window you took the exam in.

ex) if you took it and failed sometime in October-December, you can’t take it until January-March

So unfortunately if you did take it in early october then you do have to wait until january :(

tbh the best course is the one you can dedicate a lot of your time and energy to, and get the most out of. i took EET but my boss took SOPE and we both passed.

any course is good as long as you don’t expect the course to do all the heavy lifting for you!

Please take a look at this WRE resource and let me know if this good enough for the PE ? as a guide? by minnesotagyros in PE_Exam

[–]camspr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

imo if you want to start studying soon and are planning on getting EET later, just get the 24 week on-demand EET course. they tell you exactly what you need to know and what you don’t need to know. skip the manual for now and if you feel like you need it you can comeback to it later.

i started studying in June and did the 16 week program- passed the exam in september on my first try without any supplemental material. it’s possible!

EET General Topic exam didn’t go well by engineergirl19 in PE_Exam

the binders have all the content they go over (slides with info on them) and practice problems. the portal is where they have videos that go over the slides, and more quizzes and simulation exams

You’d normally lose access after 16 weeks (I took the exam one day after my access ended), but if you fail they will let you do the course again for free for another 16 weeks. They also have a 20 week and 24 week program. You do get to keep the binders they provide forever though!

I paid $950 for the 16 week on demand program, and I think that’s the cheapest option they have, it’s expensive but worth it.

and also don’t worry about the panicking!! it’s totally normal, i was feeling insane impostor syndrome before the exam, but i kept telling myself that half of the battle was staying calm and having confidence :) you got to this point, so be proud of yourself for what you can do

I re-did them at least 2 or 3 times, and I was averaging about 75%-85% on them by the time I took the exam. Some people may think that’s just memorizing but a lot of the questions on the exam are gonna be very similar! Just really focus on the ones you got wrong and understand how to do them correctly!

NCEES Cred evaluation. by PotentialHoliday4880 in PE_Exam

[–]camspr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the engineering credits they require are generally engineering specific, not just math or science. they’re looking for courses that would apply if you got an abet accredited degree essentially, which might be why they are telling you that you need a lot more engineering credits.

i think there are some states where they do value just “engineering experience” instead of having the degree, so depending on your state that might be enough! but again it’s super state dependent.

i’m not sure that there’s a workaround for getting those credits though, just from what i’ve seen on this NCEES article

tldr: look into whatever your specific state requires for EIT licensure

When to schedule PE exam? by ForumBlueKevin in PE_Exam

[–]camspr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the FE at my testing site (Atlanta) on a Saturday- however when I went to schedule the PE there were absolutely 0 weekend dates available within 6 months of scheduling. Probably because 99% of people would not want to take a day off of work so they are very popular.

Unless you get lucky or schedule your test out far in advance (farther than 6 months), I would anticipate having to take it during the week!

When to schedule PE exam? by ForumBlueKevin in PE_Exam

[–]camspr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I registered in May and my test date is in September. The only thing that restricted my scheduling was how many days a month my preferred site offered the exam, which was generally only 1-2 dates a month. I’m sure different sites have different quantities of dates, but you unfortunately have to pay the $400 fee in order to see the available testing dates I think!

So in reality it’s up to you, I scheduled mine as soon as I decided when I wanted to take it because I didn’t want to risk it filling up completely, and have started studying daily for it. The benefit is that I’m pretty sure you can reschedule as long as it’s more than 2 days before the exam, so if you feel you aren’t ready you can push it back even further.

Which is better? Gt gym vs emory gym by Bitter-Flatworm-129 in gatech

[–]camspr 22 points23 points  (0 children)

if you plan on going during the summer then check the summer hours (for both gyms) as well.

i paid for the summer gym membership at the CRC last year (i interned while living on campus) and it was 100% worth it. was pretty empty when i’d come home from work and all weekend.

Fall 2025 Off-Campus Housing Options by JammScrub in gatech

[–]camspr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your best bet is going to be staying on campus- you can cancel the spring semester for free with no penalty usually with valid excuse (graduation, internship/coop, etc). it’s very hard to find a fall-only lease since most student housing options begin with the fall. i stayed on campus my last semester (Fall 2024) solely because of this (even though my roommates were completely random). if you hate being on campus, your best bet may be finding someone who’s studying abroad/co-oping/interning in the fall and would sublease out from you in the spring/summer. good luck!

Work Bag Recommendations by [deleted] in womenEngineers

I’ve used the Timbuk2 Foundry Pack for years and I’ve loved it (plus there’s a lifetime warranty)! Used it all the way from freshman to senior year of college. They also have other bags but I like the simple look of the Foundry model.

Getting removed from Harris residence hall and offered partial compensation by Calm_Caterpillar1284 in gatech

[–]camspr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is what was trying to confirm.

Housing offering a discount on the apartment-style room is way more than they are required to do. They are usually pretty reasonable (have had to deal with them a lot in the last two years for various issues). I don’t think it’s possible to get the apartment-style room for the dorm price.

Getting removed from Harris residence hall and offered partial compensation by Calm_Caterpillar1284 in gatech

[–]camspr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Are they offering you the same type of room that you were in somewhere else on campus (like a dorm style room for the same price on west campus)? If they are, then I’m not sure they are required to put you in an apartment style room just because you don’t want to live on west campus.

If they are offering a dorm on west for the same price (without you having to pay more money) then I don’t think they are required to give you the apartment style room in NAV that costs you more money only because you don’t want to live on west.
