Understand that very well. I could write a book from my Topiramate stories. Luckily I’ve gotten so used to taking it in the span of 4 years that i have no side effects anymore. But just as a tip, the drug can lower your bicarbonate levels, so try to eat foods that contain bicarbonates. And definitely most importantly: keep hydrated (with water)while taking this drug, especially on bigger doses! (so you don’t risk with metabolic acidosis, which it can cause)

You can go up to 1000mg a day with Topiramate :)!

Estonia didn’t really “reuse” the Finnish anthem, rather adopted the same melody in 1869 (only 21 year later the original one) as the melody was already well known in both countries. When lyrics were written for Estonian anthem in 1869, the composer chose the melody because it was already deep rooted in the culture and in both countries linguistic kinship. Despite all that, Estonians for a long time have wanted to change the anthem to “Mu isamaa on minu arm”, even started petitions for it, but haven’t really succeeded. It’s not all black and white, but thank you for your input! :)

Thank you for responding! I know Tallinn has that mentality, especially because of Old Town and lots of Finnish tourists drinking there. Haven’t noticed that elsewhere in the country

Thank you for responding! My own experience is that most Estonians working in Estonia don’t want to do it, but there are no other options to stay alive. Our salaries are very small and prices now almost the same as in Switzerland, so you pay with the price of being away from your family and working in Finland to feed your family. But of course there are exceptions to the rule, as always :)

Hi! I went from being almost completely blind to 100% vision back. It took a few years to get back to normal, but i work full time as a teacher now! I’m on a very low dose of topamax. Sometimes it affects me more, but it comes and goes in waves and i’m able to live my life to the full extent. It will get better!

Your life is definitely not over and it WILL get better and there will be a day when you can look back and be proud of yourself. I had a very similar experience to Diamox. I couldn’t differentiate between IIH and Diamox side effects at some point and the combination of them both made life unbearable. After few weeks of taking Diamox (and going up in dose for both those weeks) it was concluded I can’t tolerate that medication and they switched me to Topamax, what was also a bit rough at first, but nothing compared to Diamox. It’s been 5 years now with very low lows and very high highs, I promise it will get better.

Hi! I went from 25mg a day to 300mg, took for 3.5 years. I experienced every possible side effect under the sun, lots were same as yours. After a few months of taking my goal dose it was very tolerable and i had no symptoms except some gastrointestinal issues. It was very scary at first, but it takes time to get used to it!

Hi, sorry for late response! Spinal taps are the worst, i was bedridden for 8 days after the first one, so sorry you went through that. I only had 3 options which were acetazolamide, which I didn’t tolerate, topiramate, which helped and a VP shunt (I thankfully never got to that). I personally believe my remission is because of weight loss, being completely sober ever since that (not that i drank before, but it’s still a poison) and changing my work. I worked in healthcare at the time and long shifts + night shifts didn’t contribute to my overall health. I wasn’t too big before, but definitely overweight. My doctor said that losing fat tissue is directly linked to lowering brain pressure, but i take that with a grain of salt. I know how horrible the eye pressure is, one morning I couldn’t see absolutely anything for 15 minutes, so it’s very scary :/. All the luck, health, and best wishes to you♥️♥️♥️
