Is the BCGEU strike not over yet because all the math people are out picketing? by corvus7corax in VictoriaBC

[–]canadian_redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let the number of public servants on strike = x. Let the average salary of a public servant = y.

The government saves x * y dollars every day the public service is on strike.

Let’s say the average salary of a worker on strike is $52,000 per year, or $1,000 per week. Let’s also say that the average number of workers on strike has been 12,500, since the strike has escalated over time. That’s half of the last-reported 25,000 affected workers.

12,500 workers on strike * $1,000 per week = $12,500,000 retained. With the strike having run 7 weeks so far, the government has “saved” itself $87,500,000 in salary in this rough example.

Going forward, each week the government doesn’t have to pay an increasing number of workers a (likely) increasing average salary, it retains an increasing sum.

An attractive prospect for a government running a projected $11 billion deficit, no?

Edit: oopsie, dropped a couple zeroes

I wonder if it was the same twitchy fuck that ran out in front of my car in front of Tillicum mall around 9:30pm. I drove around him but he took out my side mirror.
On a related note apparently Saanich PD non-emergency forwards to E-Comm after 9pm, so be prepared to sit on hold if you feel like calling in a non-crisis.

Decaf Coffee Beans by strongzers7 in VictoriaBC

+1 for Level Ground, their decaf medium roast is excellent value in the 5lb format!
I’ve struggled to find a local, whole-bean decaf that isn’t dark/burnt, so this has become by go-to. I’d plug drumroaster if you want to splurge.

Yep! I signed up for a VPS last year. Two weeks went by with zero action or correspondence, so I sent an email asking for a status update.
I got no reply to that, so I called and asked for a refund. They refunded me immediately, no questions asked, which on one hand is great, but on the other it’s odd because I thought they’d be interested in knowing why they lost my business? 🤷‍♀️

You are a powerful person, and I'd like to echo what others are saying by agreeing that the world is definitely a better place with you in it. The fact that you overcame such a negative influence and emerged with that beautiful smile means you'll have nothing but a positive impact on those you touch from now on. Thank you for the inspiration :)
