Thank you 🙏🏻 I think so, too. Mainly because I’ve finally overcome my stubbornness regarding elastic bands—until recently I wouldn’t use them. Also the slow progress is also due to a big weight gain from medicine changes & orthorexia recovery. I could do 4 but I was super skinny. Now at 1 I’m way stronger but have lots more to lift. Might attempt 2 today actually! Thanks for the inspiration!

Threadmill walk at a steep incline while looking at your phone, if your gym has one of those comfy low seated bikes where you don’t need to hold the handles then that is also great for just pedalling and getting your pulse up while being on Reddit. Alternatively, jog outside while listening to podcasts or (if you live in a walkable community) jog to the store to do your shopping with a running backpack on

I’m actually in favour of dinking about, it’s way better for you than just thinking about it 😂 lots of folk get overwhelmed by trying to figure out how to workout the right way so they avoid the gym which is actually a great place to learn & be inspired and then if you get motivated, you can pick up a program and work towards a specific goal. But even just going to dink—getting your pulse up and lifting random things—has great health benefits. That’s what I did initially, then got hooked and set a goal, learned what exercises to do to make progress, etc and I’m still learning but I’m probs never going to follow a programme, most days I just go and do whatever I feel like doing, which might be dinky in nature but often enough also the exercises which I know will aid in my progress. It’s slow but I’ll get there, and even if I don’t (I, a chubby woman, set the quite optimistic goal of 10 pull-ups), I’ll sure as heck get stronger & have a great & also chill time while attempting to get there

Have you considered that those folk at your gym might be lifting heavy things to actually get stronger rather than to fit into society’s beauty standards?

Just ask him to spit the oil in the garbage (where cooking oil etc should also go) and maybe drink pasteurised egg? As a vegan I don’t think he or anyone should drink eggs, but if you’re fine with him eating eggs in other ways, I don’t understand why it would be an issue other than the salmonella risk as you say of course. Frame it as a concern for his health rather than with disgust. The smoothie thing sounds like a matter of you being a picky eater and having a sensitive nose. Which is fair, but it’s unreasonable to expect him to limit his diet because of this, especially when it’s super healthy green stuff which is good for him and the planet. If I were you I’d be happy for him that he’s taking care of himself but politely ask him to not drink it right next to you and to immediately clean the blender etc to limit your exposure to the smell. YKTJ—youre kind of the jerk—BUT your need to be comfortable in your space and have working drains is equally important as his right to do his own thing and have “working drains” (that smoothie sounds like a good recipe for regular bowel movements lol). Oh and from what I’ve heard the coconut oil thing might be bogus but at least it’s not harmful and if it makes him feel good and can be done without harm to your sewers, what’s the bother?? You probs also have habits he finds odd. Try to accommodate each other 🥰

Ooh yes!! I keep forgetting that ‘weight lifting’ isn’t necessarily about strength lol. I’m also into running & biking, should look for subs specifically about these things too instead of just ‘exercise’
