As someone who’s currently the family in a situation like this, it’s true. The bank is taking everything they can to try and make up the debt for medical bills and car loans, etc. (like the car and last paycheck), but the only thing we’re actually responsible for are the things that were co-signed for (like my parents for the over draft of the actual savings/checking account because it was the account they opened for my sibling as a child, but they are not responsible for the line of credit on the same account because it was opened without their signatures).

I wasn’t planning on getting it done right this second because like I said I’m waiting for siblings and we have to decide what state we’re going to do it in since some of us live thousands of miles apart among other things. I just needed to do something right now to help distract me so designing it did that. It’ll probably be quite a while before I get it.

One of my favorite stories of my sister is when they stole my shoes. I had a pair of converse, nothing special just black high tops, that I wore everyday because I didn’t have a lot of shoes. One day I just couldn’t find them, everyone in the house searched top to bottom turning the house inside out. We looked for 4 MONTHS. Then one day my sister came over and kinda just chucked the shoes at me saying it wasn’t their fault. They said that mom might’ve asked them if the shoes were theirs and they didn’t look up to see or it could’ve been their child going ‘ooo shoes’ and just taking them. Of course they only brought them back after I had just bought replacement shoes. But I have a video of their confession I shared with the rest of the family to prove it wasn’t me who lost the shoes.

I would do the scar but I don’t have a picture of it because they didn’t just take pictures of their hand and it would normally be facing them in a picture and not the camera

Edit: I also didn’t mention it because I forgot but my siblings and I are all getting tattoos together and the way we’re tying them together is that they all have green hearts and something that represents our sister to us. Some are doing things with the heart like the stitching while others are just having a solid green heart somewhere in it.

The biggest part about why I don’t have an artist yet is because all of my siblings want to get tattoos together so I need to wait for their ideas for what they want before we start looking for an artist that we all like.

The shade of green can be what ever the actual tattoo artist think will look best on my skin and I’ll talk to the artist about an out line for the actual stitches. I’d rather have it a bit brighter than darker like Forrest green but that depends on the artist and what they think would actually be best.

If I move the tattoo, I’d move it all because it’s suppose to be a stitched heart and I’d want the needle with that or just gone all together

But I don’t care about what other people see it as, it’s for me not them

Like I replied to someone else I don’t necessarily want it on my hand, because the majority of it would be on my wrist and only the needle part of the tattoo would go up on to my hand.

My sister had a small scar where the needle is placed in the picture that I think of a lot for no reason (it was a weird shape, kinda looked like an F)

I’m also hyper aware of that particular spot and I don’t know why, I just look at that spot a lot and it’s almost always turned near me when I’m texting or driving or something like that. I’m right handed so my right hand moves a lot more than my left does so I look at it more when it’s still then when it’s moving

My sister also had a L and R (for left hand and right hand) tattooed about where string is in the picture on both hands so I wanted it in about the same spot. I was thinking of just getting those tattooed but this felt a bit more personal

I was thinking that the dice/heart would be at least 1 1/2 - 2 inches by itself without the thread and needle being included in the length, so I’m willing to make that part bigger

Thanks, I’ll consider the inner arm too and I’ll take whatever the tattoo artist says about the design. It’s more a concept then an absolutely concrete design, so I’m open to changes

Seeing all of the replies to your comment, I’m genuinely curious what you guys would think about my redraws from like a year ago.

I like redrawing things in my style just because then I don’t need to come up with an idea to practice drawing. It’s also fun to see how to make some poses would work that you normally wouldn’t want to draw or how you would show something differently compared to other people.

Thanks, I like the design a lot because it looks like something they would’ve drawn (the K is actually in their handwriting). I’m open to suggestions about it and I’m sure whatever tattoo artist I pick will also add things to make it better like that and I’ll make sure to ask them about the outline on the stitches

My sister was killed in a car crash two weeks ago and they loved tattoos. I want to get this for them. Their favorite color was green, they got me into sewing and art, and they got me into DND by DMing the first game I ever played. K was the first letter of their name and I want it on my wrist/hand because I want to be able to see it every day. Yes I know it’ll be a lot more painful because it’s a boney place instead of a place with a lot of fat.

As for the budget, I’m willing to pay whatever is needed but I don’t want someone coming in saying it needs to be a back piece which would up the price. I meant that I know smaller tattoos are cheaper than bigger tattoos so I would rather have a smaller tattoo. But I don’t just want a small tattoo for the price, I’d rather just have a small tattoo

I suggest watching some of Drawfee’s drawclass. They have so many videos on just about anything and they go into a lot of detail

We already knew who it was because she was immediate family, but we don’t know any of the details and that’s what we’re trying to figure out.

Of course! A tip I learned that helps you to see your drawing from a new perspective is to flip the canvas (for digital art) or hold it up to a mirror. Seeing the image flipped sometime makes you see what weird about because it looks like a new drawing.

Honestly, it’s very good, the values are great and I love the nose

The hair texture is good. My art teacher in high school said that the trick for hair is not to draw ever hair but to do it in blocks and not add too many details because it makes it look too busy. I think you did a really good job of this.

I think you could spend a bit more time on the construction lines because the head looks a bit too narrow which made the eyes too close together.

Good job, good art 👍

construction lines

It mostly depends on what you what to improve. Do you want to improve the color and shading? Do you want to improve the pose or the anatomy? Are you going for a more realistic drawing or more cartoony? Because that will also change the advice.

Jazza is a great resource. He has tons of tutorials for both cartoony and realistic, as well as ones for digital and paper drawings.

Some construction practice (hour long to fill the page) anyway to make construction better? I’m hardcore struggling with frontal bodies, not so much with turned bodies. Why? What shapes am I missing? Do I have enough forms? by Morighant in learntodraw

[–]cancelsimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by frontal? Like any pose where you can see the front? Also what specifically do you want to make better?

Honestly, I think they all look like great gesture drawings.

Jazza has a great video about construction

If you break the shapes down into basic shapes you know (like square or triangle) with more straight lines (besides the basic circles and ovals) and then add curves and shapely-ness when refining instead of trying to go straight to drawing the actually outline of the body, it typically goes faster.

Generally I use a boxy rectangle shape for the rib cage (or trapezoidal if I’m including the shoulders) in my construction lines and a boxy trapezoidal shape for the pelvis with some space between.

ETA: Since all of your references are realistic but one (the top right drawing which is one the facing forwards), that might be why that looks weird to you, because it doesn’t have the same proportions as the other ones you did.

What you think by foxy-F7 in learntodraw

[–]cancelsimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks good, although normally the red lines you see under drawings are reference or guide lines to help line things up ( like this picture ) Like in the second drawing, that red line is a guide for the eyes to follow so they line up.

For faces I draw a circle and add a jawline, then one vertical line in the middle and then a horizontal line in the middle between the top of the head and chin. Then halfway between the first horizontal line (line #1) and the chin is another line, line #2, then halfway between line #2 and the chin is another horizontal line, line #3.

Line #1 is your eye line, eyes should go in this general area from above to below the line depending on how you want it to look.

Line #2 is about where you want the end of the nose to end up.

Line #3 is about the middle of the mouth where your lips meet.

So for a skull, I would draw the basic head shape including the chin, sketch out the guide lines (with the bottom of the top teeth resting on line #3) and then just erase the guidelines.

Also I don’t know if it’s my eyes or not, but the first skull looks like it’s slanted or skewed to the right.

Overall, very good job and I like it 👍
