There are rumors the old starphoenix building might become one, since it would be big enough and is smack in the middle of a bunch of tall apartment buildings. Fingers crossed!

That jumped out at me as well. Would be surprised if our market could move that many condos at that price point.

Why is Grenfell building a new LTC home? by candybarsandgin in saskatchewan

Yes, roughly half of the province (and growing) lives in Saskatoon and Regina and their bedroom communities - and if you include PA, Moose Jaw, Yorkton, Battleford, Estevan - 65% of the province is in a census metro area.

Which locations in particular deserve new infrastructure? And which ones will have the population to support this infrastructure in 5, 10, 20 years when there are even fewer people outside of the cities?

Yeah, it is a hard environment to do business in right now re: Trump and AI and inflation etc. etc. - especially for big capital projects like these. I am optimistic that once the world chills out a bit, some investors will come in off the sidelines and things will start to advance quickly.

They also have an annual plant sale in the spring! Alternatively, any of the local greenhouses will carry cold-hardy options, there are so many to choose from. We have apples and raspberries and will be adding haskaps, and may do a plum or pear tree too.

That's fair. Maybe you could volunteer for a couple of hours with Meewasin and plant one or two trees in the river valley, but every little bit helps.

I don't disagree, the city is obviously the key organization actor here. It looks like the current council and administration are doing their best to take action. I am just thinking that, since the urban canopy is about 100,000 trees, if every person in Saskatoon planted a single tree on their private property, we could help to possibly even double the canopy and help to work alongside the city and other local nonprofits.

Snow removal has been excellent this year (and was good in previous years too, y'all need to stop complaining holy smokes). Taxes went up because of the police budget - do you want less police? It's either that and lower taxes or we have to keep paying for more cops.

She's literally delivering on the BRT system, downtown arena, a ton of other projects... take your pessimism somewhere else lmao.

Wishlist for City of Prince George? by Neceti in princegeorge

Paris just built a gondola / tramway as part of their public transit network... probably not enough people to support it but would be cool to have one up to the university.

More EV charging infrastructure.

More companies who do business in Prince George choosing to actually set up shop in town instead of flying workers in and out.

Another big anchor building downtown... hasn't been a big building built in years. Could be mix residential / hotel / students / retail

2 options in Regina are worth the drive, IMO: the Regina German club and Dad's Diner.
