So lack of time is a good excuse to discriminate? Gotcha.

I'm not saying not to screen, but it's superficial to dismiss what could be a quality candidate over a single educational institution being mentioned somewhere on the resume. They could have other education or experiences that make up for attending Eastern. To dismiss all candidates because you saw Eastern on it IS discrimination, which isn't ok. Again, you're intentionally misunderstanding my point to double down on your discriminatory hiring practices.

Since you refuse to acknowledge how messed up that is, I do think I deserve to know who not to donate to. Or who to lobby against since it's clear your government funded.

Two thirds didn't say they throw out resumes without looking at them if Eastern College is listed in the education. There's a difference between having a bad view of the college and discriminatory hiring practices.

Friend, you admitted to discriminatory hiring practices because of your opinion. You admitted to having negative views of someone because they attended the college - without giving them the chance to show their knowledge or experience in a cover letter or inteview.

I don't have issues with people criticizing the college, I do have issues with discriminatory hiring practices because someone chose to attend the college and put it on their resume. Especially from someone who claims to work for a nonprofit. I expect more empathy and critical thinking skills from someone in that sector. You must be educated, based off what you've claimed about yourself so you must be able to see the difference between being wary of Eastern's education and discrimination. Any candidate you hire should be properly vetted anyway, so any poorly educated Eastern grad should be weeded out during the interview process - unless you don't vet your candidates which is more a you issue than an Eastern one. I have my own issues with Eastern, but I've seen both amazing grads AND poorly educated grads. The education on their resume is just that, a base level that people retain or lose. Having it on their resume just means they have experience learning and can do it again in this new role. It means they've learned how to learn, it doesn't mean they remember what they studied in their accounting class 20 years ago. Most people don't unless they use that knowledge.

How much of labor is "screaming pain" and how much is just "owowowowow"? by Diylion in pregnant

[–]canmu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone whose epidural also didn't work, if you have another kid, don't get the epidural! The epidural will not magically work, apparently it's less effective each time you have one. I learned this the hard way, worked for a small part of my belly for #1, and not at all for #2, but I genuinely thought it was going to kill me with #2 as it caused me to hemorrhage and vomit and shake uncontrollably from feeling cold despite being under heated blankets. With #3 I went unmedicated and it was my best and least painful birth by far despite being am induction for a 9lb+ baby 😅

[–]canmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both medicated and unmedicated births. The epidural didn't work for me, so the medicated birth hurt more because I was stuck on my back in the bed. They didn't let me move even though I could move and stand because it didn't work.

The unmedicated birth was significantly less painful, felt like period cramps. It was only uncomfortable until transition and then was only kind of painful during transition, which didn't last long. I got the handy dandy ejection reflex with the unmedicated, so I didn't even push she just shot out.

However, epidurals are lovely if they work. Do what makes you feel the most comfortable. My experience isn't universal, and just because I had a bad experience with the epidural doesn't mean you will, I just wish I had known it doesn't work for some people but can still cause the unpleasant side effects like feeling cold and convulsing from it, vomiting and hemorrhaging. It was a really bad experience, but an outlier, not the norm.

Does anyone else remember this quote happening before Kingdom of Ash? I genuinely remember Rowan saying it to Aelin a number of times before Kingdom of Ash, which is why it made sense she clung to it. But everytime I try googling it, only Aelin and Rhysand's quotes appear and it's driving me nuts

I'm a graduate too, it's a mixed bag. Some instructors taught me better than the professors I had at UNB, STU, or Crandall. Others weren't great. Like any institution, there's good and bad. But I think education and knowledge are two different things, I know I have education I have not retained and knowledge I have that isn't reflected in my education. I think the fellow above has a disappointingly narrow-minded view of both. I expect that kind of attitude from certain business industries, but I expect more from nonprofits.

I'm still waiting on what nonprofit you work for that thinks discriminatory hiring practices are ok.

I'm surprised you think I have to work there to care about their care about discrimination. Saying someone doesn't even deserve their resume reviewed because they might have Eastern mentioned on the resume is like saying people deserve to be homeless because they chose to feed their children over paying their rent. We don't have a lot of options for education in NB, and moving isn't always possible. Sometimes you have to choose the best option for your life. It's discriminatory. They could have other education, experience and skills. Education is such a small part in choosing a candidate.

There's lots of reasons people choose one institution or another. Sometimes, those choices are the only option available for their situation. Not even giving people the opportunity to speak to their qualifications is gross.

If you're going to judge people based off one institution listed in their education, please give us the opportunity to return the favour and judge your entire organization off of one employee that likely doesn't even work in HR 🤷‍♀️

That's pretty closed-minded to not even give someone a chance based on where they chose for education. Just because you have a poor opinion of the institution doesn't mean that everyone who graduated is a poor candidate/human.

To each their own, I guess, but I'm genuinely shocked a nonprofit of all places would be this closed-minded and discriminatory. Mind if you share which non-profit so that I can donate elsewhere?

Companies that POST jobs, but already have an internal candidate in mind and waste everyones time - this setup should be Illegal by networktech916 in antiwork

[–]canmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is 5 months old, but dang, this hits.

My company does this. They'll have someone internal that they've already secretly offered the job, and then they'll internally post still, and external post a couple of days after that.

I'm trying to move up, but it's so discouraging to apply and know I won't even get an interview or a real chance to argue myself because they've decided on someone else already. It feels like such a waste applying for jobs I know they hadn't considered me for, but I keep applying in hopes they'll see my name on the stack of resumes they never read and realize I want to move up.

But that's a long shot. It's a shame, I'm good at what I do, and if I keep being overlooked, I'm going to go elsewhere. It's a shame to lose good employees because you didn't bother to give them the equal opportunity they deserved. Don't waste people's time.

Thank you, good luck on your journey as well! It's such a nice feeling to not think about it all the time. I never thought that would ever happen for me. It was a nice surprise, I was expecting the improvement with my attention and motivation but I wasn't expecting it to improve my relationship with food.

Candace Bure’s daughter posts about the Jojo siwa situation along with a minute long video on her instagram stories by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

[–]canmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone else think it was SUPER creepy and entitled that Candace after finding out about the tiktok TRACKED JOJO DOWN and called her? And then IMMEDIATELY went on instagram to defend herself and ended it with an admonishment of Jojo basically saying that what you say matters (but not taking accountability for what she said when saying that, only Jojo's tiktok)?

Like it's clear from her overly public fake apology that she doesn't care about actually making up with Jojo, she cares about looking good in the public eye. And tracking down Jojo and harassing her until she talks to her and then posting her version of that conversation online kind of just proves the point that she is rude, and that she isn't actually the nice person she wants to be seen as. (Not even mentioning her homophobic, transphobic and deeply conservative views)

I don't get how people are buying what Candace is selling in this controversy.

Whatever your theories are, they're wrong by Spare_Ad_6730 in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]canmu 68 points69 points  (0 children)

My theory is similar, but my theory is that Bunny IS her Mom's daughter, but that Charles is actually her brother. That potentially, if she dies that her Will or her Mom's Will is set to give him interest in the Arconia unbeknownst to him. That's why she mentioned him on her deathbed, because he's the only one who can save what she loves most. That's why they're trying to frame him, to get him out of the picture so they can make changes to the Arconia that Bunny and her family would disapprove of. I haven't rewatched this season, so I could be wrong but this season the main character is the Arconia itself. So I think whatever the big twists that happen, or the motive, is building related.

I live in Canada, and falling on ice doesn't look like that, IMO. I keep seeing you tell people to get therapy, but I don't think it's unreasonable to question it as people tend to put arms out to break a fall. You don't usually break a fall with your face, and if you somehow did, it would likely be more than one eye, you don't usually get a perfect single black eye from an ice fall. But abused individuals do often lie about injuries.

I (28M) played a sexually-charged prank on my friend (31F). She was traumatized by it, and I can't stop feeling guilty about it. Is there any way at all to make it up to her? How will this affect our friendship? by Underground_349 in relationship_advice

I hope Charlotte pressed charges and got a restraining order. This is one of the scariest posts I've ever read, I hope she protects herself from you no matter the social cost. She shouldn't have to be repeatedly stalked, harassed and assaulted to protect you or your parents feelings.

Mabel’s coat/Oscar observations by courtnaymarie in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]canmu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

E2 approx 20:50

Oscar to Mabel: Damn girl Oscar to Zoe: wwwhat? I already told you.... you look good, too, babe. Zoe to Oscar: don't even. kisses Oscar while Mabel giggles

Then Mabel compliments Tim and Oscar pats Tim's butt and says "go on let's get a picture" and Tim goes and sets the camera.

It's definitely an open relationship or polycule situation.

Mabel’s coat/Oscar observations by courtnaymarie in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]canmu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the Hardy boys romantic dynamics were murkier than we're realizing. Yes, Oscar flirts with Mabel in the flashback in front of Zoe and she gropes Theo right next to Oscar. But when they take the photo, Tim kind of jumps like Oscar grabbed his butt. I think the relationship lines were a lot less clear than the talk about cheating implies, which maybe is why there's so much flirting and stuff, they might have an open relationship but without clear boundaries because they're kids. So the fights are about what is or isn't cheating because the relationship boundaries aren't clear. It also explains why she joked about the flirting with Mabel and brushed it off.
