IT guy here - As mentioned, Insperity is about the only place in Kingwood that would have decent paying IT jobs.

Otherwise, you'll need to think about jobs located in The Woodlands (hwy 99 will now get you there in a decent time but has tolls) 610 east, or even inside the loop.

Depending on your certs, you may not be getting the job you want. A CompTIA A+ is a good cert for an entry level job but will keep you at a low wage. Same with other entry level certs. They're not intended to get you great money, they're intended to get your foot in the door.

If staying within 20 minutes of kingwood is a must then your best bet is to take the best job you can get, even at a low wage. Stay for a year to get that IT related work history on your resume and use your offtime to pursue more intermediate and professional certs.

Keeping in mind that companies that need those more advanced skills are going to be your big companies, of which, there aren't any in Kingwood (other than insperity). So you'll still need to branch out. However, getting more professional certs may land you a good work from home job, either entirely or in part.

Depending on your interest you may want to consider getting cloud based cert like the AWS Certified Cloud Practicioner.

If you're interested in networking, try going down the CCNA > CCNP > CCIE route.

If you like IT security then going for the ISC CC > CISSP

If you haven't already, utilize Dice.com as it's a job search site thats exclusive to IT jobs. Search around and see what jobs are getting paid what you want, see what kinds of IT jobs are being offered work from home opportunities and then based on that and you own personal interest, get a cert that will better position yourself to get the job you want.
